Retailer to Retailer

Member Edition

February 9, 2026

Hello URA Member,

At the end of this month, I will transition into retirement with profound pride in all that we have accomplished together and with great optimism for the future of the Uniform Retailers Association. The lessons learned, the laughter shared, and the many memories built throughout our time together will remain with me always. I am confident that the association is in capable hands as Jennifer assumes the role of executive director.

February may be the shortest month of the year, but it’s one of the most important for setting the tone for a strong retail season ahead. Now is the time to reset after the holidays, refocus on what’s working, and recharge your team and your store.

❤️ February Focus: Retention Over Rush

Foot traffic may slow down, but loyalty doesn’t have to.

• Reach out to your best customers with a quick “We miss you” email or text

• Offer a small loyalty incentive or bounce-back coupon

• Highlight everyday essentials—not just promotions

A personal touch goes a long way this time of year.

Wishing you continued success,

Dixie Russell, Executive Director & Jennifer Clegg, Assistant Director

Visual Refresh (Without the Big Spend)

You don’t need a full remodel to freshen up your store.

• Swap mannequins or front-table displays

• Rotate featured colors or collections

• Refresh signage with simple, clean messaging

A small change can make your store feel brand new.

Retail Tip of the Month: Train for Confidence

This is the perfect time to look ahead to spring.

• Review upcoming vendor launches

• Start planning event days or in-store promotions

• Set realistic sales goals for March and April

A little planning now reduces stress later.

Spread the Love: ❤️Valentine’s + Healthcare Heroes
Valentine’s Day is a great opportunity to show appreciation—not just for customers, but for the healthcare workers who have given so much to our communities.

• Offer a small special to local healthcare staff (discount, bundle, or bonus item)

• Share a “Thank You, Healthcare Heroes” spotlight on social media with a heartfelt message

• Feature gift-ready essentials and practical picks for the people who go above and beyond

When you show genuine care, customers remember you.

🎒 Accessories: Quiet Power Sellers

Accessories are becoming intentional purchases, not impulse.

What’s Growing:

  • Compression socks (fashion + function)
  • Badge reels with durability
  • Under-scrub layers for temperature control
  • Small utility bags/pouches

What’s fading: novelty-only accessories with no function.

Retail tip: Merchandise accessories as problem solvers, not add-ons.

A MILESTONE YEAR ON THE HORIZON

The Uniform Retailers Association will celebrate 20 years in 2026, and planning is already in motion for a Trade Show that reflects the strength of our community.

This anniversary year will bring retailers and manufacturers together in a meaningful way—and we can’t wait to celebrate alongside you.
