OCTOBER 2026 NEWSLETTER

AN INDEPENDENT RISK MANAGEMENT COMPANY

A Little Spooky. A Lot to Protect.

October has arrived in the Poconos! The leaves are changing, temperatures are dropping, pumpkins are appearing on front porches, and Halloween will be here before we know it.

While we love all the fun that comes with October, this is also a great month to think about something that doesn't have to be scary:

Protecting the people, property and future that matter most to you.

From keeping trick-or-treaters safe to understanding flood insurance, preparing your home for colder weather and planning for your financial future, the team at FRM Group Insurance and Financial Services

ο»Ώis here to help.

So grab that pumpkin spice coffee and settle in. We've packed this month's newsletter with helpful information, community happenings and a little Halloween spirit.

FLOOD INSURANCE

Think You're Covered? Don't Wait for the Water to Find Out.

Here's something many homeowners don't realize:

A STANDARD HOMEOWNERS INSURANCE POLICY TYPICALLY DOES NOT COVER FLOOD DAMAGE.

Flooding isn't limited to homes located next to rivers or streams.

Heavy rainfall, rapidly melting snow, overwhelmed drainage systems, runoff, changing landscapes and severe storms can all contribute to flooding.

And even a relatively small amount of water entering your home can result in significant damage.

WHAT CAN FLOOD INSURANCE HELP PROTECT?

Depending on the policy and coverage selected, flood insurance can provide protection for the building, including items such as:

βœ” Foundation and structural components

βœ” Electrical and plumbing systems

βœ” Furnaces and water heaters

βœ” Permanently installed carpeting

βœ” Built-in appliances

βœ” Certain permanently installed fixtures

Separate contents coverage may help protect personal belongings such as:

βœ” Furniture

βœ” Clothing

βœ” Electronics

βœ” Certain appliances

βœ” Other covered household belongings

Coverage, exclusions, deductibles and limits vary by policy and carrier.

β€œBUT I'M NOT IN A HIGH-RISK FLOOD ZONE.”

That's one of the most important conversations to have with your insurance agent.

Living outside a designated high-risk flood area does not mean your property has zero flood risk.

Flood maps are an important tool, but weather, drainage, construction and development can change how water moves through an area.

DON'T ASK ONLY:

β€œAm I required to have flood insurance?”

Also ask:

β€œWhat would happen financially if my

home flooded and I didn't have flood coverage?”

That's a very different question.

Contact FRM Group and Financial Services for details.
