Notes of Joy - Easter Week
Gospel: Mark 16:1-8
This Sunday we celebrate that Christ is risen! Jesus is alive, and God has swallowed up death forever. With Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome, we may feel astonished and confused, unsure of what to make of the empty tomb. But this is why we gather: to proclaim, witness, praise, and affirm the liberating reality of Christ’s death and resurrection. In word and feast, we celebrate God’s unending love, and depart to share this good news with all the world. Alleluia!

Congregational Meeting Result
It’s official! With a quorum of 35 members, Joy Lutheran Church voted with written ballots to call Pastor Sean Avery to be our Pastor. Sean will graduate from Seminary May 16th and we expect to hear his official response around that date. This is an exciting time!
Easter Sunday
We will have two services, allowing room between people as we continue to follow COVID protocols.

For the time being, we will continue to use "pre-filled" cups and wafers. Remember, what makes communion holy is Jesus. It is not the containers, but rather the elements and Jesus’ promises as we gather that make this a holy sacrament.
Easter Drive-thru Communion
Pastor Karen is offering drive through communion on Easter Sunday in the west parking lot from 11:30-noon.

Easter morning at 10:00am there will be an Easter Egg Hunt for kids 6th grade and under, as well as a story time and a craft.
Feeling Blessed?
Consider tithing to the Church on your stimulus check (this would be $140), or increasing your regular giving. Many are unable to do so during COVID; others feel their cup is overflowing. Let us pray for all and give according to our ability.
Easter Jubilation
On Easter Sunday click the link below for a beautiful surprise!

Below is a link to a special Easter Jubilation - click the link below on Easter Day. It is a digital project bringing together live and recorded performances of Handel’s Hallelujah Chorus – in spectacular pandemic style. Since they were not able to gather due to COVID, 350 singers from Spain and Portugal came together virtually with professional musicians, in the magnificent Gothic Basilica of St Mary by the Sea in Barcelona. Videos were projected onto various surfaces inside the Church.

LOOKING FOR A CHANCE TO GIVE CREATIVELY?
This Spring we hope to have a FUNDRAISER. Details are still being ironed out. The funds raised will go toward the one-time Moving Expenses of our new Pastor. Right now we have $3,000 toward our $9,000 goal. We hope to have a Silent Auction where we contribute items that will be silently bid on. We may post some of these on-line in addition to having items displayed along with a bidding sheet at Church over the span of 1-week.

Think creatively: hand crocheted items, quilts, runners, wooden bird houses, seedlings you've got started for gardens, a weekend at your cabin, a home-made pie, lefse...you name it!

If you would like to give a financial gift, beyond your regular giving, simply put a note that you would like your check directed toward pastoral moving expenses. If it’s an electronic gift, click Special Offering and let the office know it’s for moving expenses. Thank you!

We are ready to start in-person meetings again in the church Fellowship Hall.  Zoom meetings helped us get through COVID, but we look forward to getting together in person again.
