Employer Spotlight: Corner Bakery

Meet Christian, a valued team member at the Corner Bakery in Wilmette. Since March 2024, Christian has been happily working part-time with various responsibilities in his role as front-of-the-house staff. In addition to serving food and supporting co-workers, Christian helps with catering prep work, bussing tables, and restocking needed items. Christian's favorite part of his job is working with his manager, KeyKey, and serving food. KeyKey shared that Christian is a joy to have on staff. His positive attitude and willingness to work hard make him a favorite among staff and customers.

A Special Visit from Sharpie!

An incredible community connection from Curt Funke, TotalLink's Art & Program Facilitator, led to a very exciting visit last month from the brand Sharpie. A representative presented the history of the well-known permanent marker brand and generously brought a donation of their new creative marker line.

During the visit, our artists were delighted to learn about Sharpie's history and thrilled to each receive their own pack of markers. The artists wasted no time and immediately started working on summer-themed paintings with the help of their new creative markers. This product has quickly become a staple for our artists, and our connection with Sharpie continues to grow, enhancing our art classes and our artists' creativity.

Thursday, June 13th, was a beautiful day for 100 golfers to participate in the Maureen Kogen Memorial Golf Outing at Glen Flora Country Club in Waukegan.

A standout moment of the afternoon was Andrew Wenk hitting a hole-in-one on the 11th hole. Although he didn't win the car from the Loeber Motors sponsored Hole-In-One Contest held on the 18th hole, he achieved the dream of every golfer and enjoyed the special satisfaction of a game well played.

The funds raised from this golf outing help support TotalLink's employment services and social programs. Thank you to all the participants, sponsors, volunteers, and staff who made this event possible. And thank you to the local businesses and TotalLink supporters who generously donated goodie bags and prizes for our various contests.

Celebrating Promotions at TotalLink!

We are happy to announce and congratulate two of our team members on their well-deserved promotions.

Drew Philips, our new Employment Services Manager, joined TotalLink in 2017. Drew has demonstrated exceptional leadership and a passion for helping our job seekers achieve their employment goals. In his new role, Drew will continue to drive our mission forward, ensuring that we provide support and opportunities for those we serve.

Jade Andrews is now our Program Manager. In this role, she will take on new responsibilities in supporting the Program Director to help coordinate our programs and ensure they meet the diverse needs of our community. Jade is passionate about her job and enjoys working with the adults in our programs. We are excited to see Jade bring her energy, enthusiasm, and insights to this new role.

TotalLink artists' self-portraits are now on display at the New Trier Township Board Room. Come join us for an artist celebration with family, friends, and community members on Wednesday, July 31st, from 6:15 to 7:15 p.m. at 739 Elm Street, Winnetka, IL.
