Bainbridge Island Resident Survey

Bainbridge Island Chamber of Commerce

The Bainbridge Island Chamber of Commerce is gathering resident input to better understand how the local economy affects daily life and what economic development priorities the community supports. Results will help local leaders, businesses, and community organizations make informed decisions about local services, employment, transportation, tourism, and future investments.

The survey takes about 7 minutes to complete.

Autumn is our

ï»żBainbridge Chamber Membership Drive!

Did you know that the Bainbridge Chamber of Commerce is a small nonprofit organization?

The Bainbridge Chamber is a network of local business owners, community leaders, and stakeholders in our Island economy. We serve as connectors, educators, supporters, and a strong collective voice for local businesses. Our small team would not be able to do everything we do without the support of our local community.

This month we'll have opportunities for you to connect friends and colleagues who might be interested in joining our fabulous business community. Our next open event is our October After Hours at Bainbridge Senior Living's Madrona House on October 22nd.

ï»ż

We can't wait to see you there!

Interested in attending an event or getting involved? Contact our Director of Membership Services, for more information.

Friday Field Trips

McCabe By Design

On a Friday each month, the Chamber team hits the road to visit one of our members. We take a peek behind the scenes and ask business leaders to discuss their experiences owning and operating a business on Bainbridge Island. These Friday Field Trips offer the opportunity to showcase the diversity of our business ecosystem while gathering data about how we can best support our members.

ï»żLast month’s Friday Field Trip took us to the beautiful converted cabin that serves as the studio and office headquarters for McCabe by Design.

BIJEMA Celebrates New Visitor Grand Opening

Join BIJEMA to celebrate the completion of the Exclusion Memorial’s final phase: the new Visitor Center and Plaza. Experience the Visitor Center’s striking design, the newly accessible paved plaza, and a site transformed for the future. The Visitor Center will become the home of education at the Memorial, welcoming students, families, and visitors for generations to come. Island Volunteer Caregivers Introduces

Old Friends Club

A Welcoming Place for People Living with Dementia

Island Volunteer Caregivers (IVC) is introducing the Old Friends Club, a new community-based social program for adults living with dementia or cognitive decline—and is inviting interested families and prospective volunteers to learn more.

Old Friends Club will provide a welcoming place where members get the opportunity to socialize with peers and regain a sense of independence. While they enjoy friendship, meals, exercise and engaging activities, their caregivers will receive valuable time to rest and recharge. IVC is looking for community members who enjoy spending time with older adults and would like to help create a fun, engaging and supportive experience.

IVC will host a free information session that will explain how Old Friends Club works, who it is designed to serve, how families can participate and the many ways volunteers can get involved.

Free Saturday Shuttle Downtown Loop (Route 385)

Extended to March 13, 2027

undefined

Just how successful has the Downtown Loop pilot been this summer? On average [Kitsap Transit] saw nearly 250 daily boardings with some buses rolling out of the ferry terminal with 50 people on board! That's close to maximum bus capacity. It's safe to say that the pilot has exceeded expectations" which is why COBI & Kitsap Transit are extending the program!

The Downtown Loop (Route 385) will run on Saturdays during the fall and winter months through Saturday, March 13, 2027. The Loop will be fare-free, run in a clockwise direction, and will get you to many destinations between Winslow Way and High School Road.

The Loop wouldn't be possible without strong community partnerships and advocacy efforts. A special thanks to Kitsap Transit for operating Route 385 and partnering with the City on this pilot service and to the Bainbridge Island Chamber of Commerce for being the Loop's #1 fan since day one and for helping to spread the word about this new transit service.

City receives 120-Day Extension

ï»żfor Housing Compliance

The City of Bainbridge Island received notice on August 28 from the Washington State Department of Commerce that it has been granted a 120-day extension, until Decemeber 19, 2026, to comply with the Housing Accountability Act. The extension follows the City Council's adoption of Ordinance 2026-10 at its August 25 Regular Business Meeting.

ï»żThe ordinance establishes interim development regulations that meet the employment and housing targets Commerce requested under the Act. Because the Council adopted it as an emergency ordinance, the City must hold a public hearing within 60 days. That hearing took place on Tuesday, September 22nd, During the Council’s Regular Business Meeting.

To learn more about the ordinance and what it does, read COBI’s news release on this item in the button below.

When: Friday, October 9, 2026 from 5:30pm to 8:30pm

Where: Kitsap Conference Center at Bremerton Harborside

The evening will celebrate women making a difference across Kitsap County while raising critical support for survivors of domestic violence and their children. This year’s event is especially meaningful after a fire at YWCA Kitsap County’s A.L.I.V.E. Emergency shelter earlier this year temporarily disrupted the safe refuge survivors of domestic violence depend on when escaping dangerous situations.

YWCA Kitsap County operates the only state-certified domestic violence shelter in Kitsap County. This confidential shelter provides emergency housing, 24/7 advocacy and support for individuals and families fleeing immediate danger. The fundraising program will help strengthen services for survivors and their children, including emergency shelter, advocacy, safety planning, and other programs that help survivors move from crisis toward safety and stability.
