October is Here, Let's Fall Into the Arts! 🍂

September gave COFA so much to celebrate! During Arts in Education Week, our artists were busy creating, performing, learning, and representing Sunny Hills. Visual Arts students Wesley Kim and Juni Lee earned recognition at the Laguna Festival of Arts, with Wesley receiving 1st Place for 11th Grade for "Punching Bag" and Juni receiving the Director’s Choice Award for "A Moment in the Sun." Wesley also earned recognition through Congressman Derek Tran’s Congressional Art Competition! Meanwhile, our Visual Arts students are diving into oil painting and artist studies and Mrs. Volen returned from the NDEO Conference in Albuquerque, NM with new ideas and inspiration for our dance program. Fall Fest auditions are coming up, and artists from every COFA discipline are invited to take the stage! Check out all the highlights and news about what's coming up this month!

Calling all Sunny Hills artists! Fall Fest auditions are Wednesday, October 7 from 3:30–5:30 PM in the Choir Room. ALL Sunny Hills students are welcome to audition and share their talent! CLICK HERE TO APPLY TODAY!

Our next mandatory Council meeting is Monday, October 5 at lunch in Room 21. We’ll be focusing on Fall Fest, group collaboration, and everyone’s roles as we get ready for the event. See you there!

🍂 Introducing The Movement Lab

The Movement Lab is a new after school creative space where movement meets music, film, photography, fashion, technology, animation, and more! Led by professional dancer and choreographer and SH's new dance assistant, Coach Mac, students can drop in to move, experiment, collaborate, or simply observe. No auditions, no commitment, and no dance experience required. Come when you’re curious and let’s make some cool stuff together!
