Temporary Outdoor Classroom Created during School Renovation

We are patiently awaiting completion of our Gajularamaran School renovation project in the Medcahl Malkajgiri District in India. We've setup temporary classrooms outside under tarps. Students and teachers are working through this difficult teaching and learning environment.

The Carnevali Foundation team is seated in the temporary outdoor classroom above. From right to left is Radhika Atluri, our dedicated CF Director for 16 years, Jackie Carnevali, our CF President, Chandrasekr, who has been an asset as our CF Operations Manager for 21 years, and K. Ratneshwara Rao is the contractor responsible for managing the entire school renovation project. K. Ratneshwara and his construction team have been doing a fantastic job working diligently to complete this renovation.

Since building 18 schools, we have become seasoned professionals in the process and are hoping to receive a WASH grant to supplement the cost of this project.

Stay tuned in future newsletters to see updates on this project.

ο»ΏConstruction Project

Footings (concrete bases) are being installed to provide a strong foundation to enable the addition of 5 classrooms and a library. The kitchen building is to the rear and will require mold removal and painting. The cook is eagerly waiting!

Walls are being rebuilt or repaired as needed. Paintings of historical figures, letters of the alphabet, and inspirational messages will be added to the walls. It will become a happy and colorful school yard.

A new toilet block will be installed for boys, girls and staff facilities. Non-potable water will be piped in, and new sinks provided. Carnevali Foundation will employ an Ayah and Watchman to make sure that the school is kept cleaned and protected.

This handwash and drinking station will be cleaned, repaired, stainless spigots installed, and the wall raised for added security. The tank will collect valuable rainwater and a reverse osmosis system, water harvesting pit, and bore well will be installed to complete a thorough approach to ensure sustainability.
