PAMED Takes Advocacy to D.C.



Last week, 20 PAMED members attended the AMA’s National Advocacy Conference in Washington D.C., where they met with legislators from 12 PA congressional offices, including Congressmen Glenn Thompson and Dwight Evans. They discussed reversing the 2.8% Medicare physician payment cuts effective Jan. 1 and urged financial relief to stabilize practices and preserve patient care.

Earlier this month, Governor Shapiro's budget address mentioned a number of health care related topics important to PAMED. PAMED is deeply disappointed by the Governor’s recent position on allowing nurse practitioners to practice independently, without the support or safety of physician supervision but also applauds the effort to combat private equity's impact and its plan to advance mental health services to Pennsylvania patients.
