October Newsletter

Hello, Community Partners,

First and foremost, I want to thank each of you for your continued support of our campus. This week, we reached another important enrollment milestone, surpassing 6,000 students. Since 2023, we have grown by nearly 1,000 students each year. That kind of growth does not happen without the ongoing partnership and support of our community.

This month, I am excited to share several upcoming community and student events.

On October 23, we will host our annual Día de los Muertos event at our LSC-Houston North Fallbrook location. This free, fun, family-friendly celebration will include food, music, and activities for all ages. The event begins at 6:30 p.m.

Earlier that evening, at 6:00 p.m., the Puente program will host its Noche de Familia panel discussion, featuring students from our Puente and Student Success Institute programs. Puente is a student success program that centers students’ experiences in both student services and instructional practices. We would love for you to join us to learn more about the program and then stay to enjoy the community celebration immediately afterward.

Friday, October 23

LSC-Houston North Fallbrook

12750 Walters Rd. Houston, TX 77014

Join us for our panel discussions from 6 to 6:30 p.m.

Festivities from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., including sugar skull face painting, the children's costume contest, which will be judged at 7 p.m., music by DJ Loon, and free traditional foods.

We also invite you to come out for our Homecoming games. Our men’s basketball team will play its Homecoming game on Tuesday, October 27, at 5:30 p.m., and our women’s volleyball team will play its Homecoming game on Wednesday, October 28, at 7:00 p.m. Both will be at Fallbrook Church. Please come out and support our teams as they continue their strong conference play.

Lastly, I want to encourage you to consider supporting our Panther Pact student emergency funds. Approximately 61% of our credit students receive some form of assistance, whether through Pell grants, food support, emergency funding, or other basic needs resources. One of our most successful services has been our emergency assistance program, which allows us to provide students with up to $500 once per year to help address basic needs such as medical expenses, car repairs, utility bills, rent, or childcare costs. Each request is carefully vetted before funds are awarded. A recent report showed that this program has been highly effective: only 3% of students who receive assistance withdraw, which is below our overall campus average.

As a campus, we spend between $45,000 and $50,000 per year on emergency assistance. With that in mind, we could use your help. Please consider helping us replenish this important fund. The program is funded entirely through donations, and any support you can provide would be extremely helpful. Please visit the link below. Under “Gift Designation,” please select “LSC-Houston North President’s Support Fund—Panther Pact.” This fund allows us to continue supporting students when they need emergency assistance most.

I wish each of you the very best, and thank you again for your continued partnership and support.

Sincerely,

Quentin Wright
