🚨 PHISHING SCAM ALERT 🚨

Protect Your Account and Financial Aid Information

Dear IVC Students,

Imperial Valley College’s IT Cybersecurity team has identified a phishing scam that was sent to a number of IVC students. The fraudulent email appears to come from BankMobile / BMTX or references a “Fall Financial Aid Refund Verification.” It instructs students to click a link or provide their account credentials.

Please do not respond to or engage with this email or any related text messages.

🔒 What’s Happening

Our IT Cybersecurity team has confirmed that a significant number of students received similar phishing emails. We are currently:

  • Removing these threats from the system’s backend
  • Monitoring for further suspicious activity

If you opened the email and entered any information, please visit the IVC Help Desk (Room 902) or call 760-355-6300 to reset your password and secure your account.

🚫 Important Reminder

Neither IVC IT staff nor any IVC employee will ever:

  • Ask for your password, personal banking details, or login credentials via email or text
  • Request that you click unfamiliar links to “verify” or “unlock” your account

🛡️ What You Can Do

  • Report phishing attempts using the Phish Alert Button in Outlook, as shown in the images below.
  • After reporting, you can delete any suspicious emails that ask for personal information.
  • When in doubt, contact the IVC Help Desk (Room 902 | 760-355-6300) before taking any action.

⚠️ About the Phishing Emails

One example of the phishing messages circulating among students includes a subject line titled “Imperial Valley College Account Termination” and a Word document attachment that prompts users to enter personal information.

Please note that other versions of this scam may vary in subject line, message, or appearance, but the goal remains the same—to steal your personal credentials.

Always use caution with unsolicited emails and report any suspicious messages through the Phish Alert Button in Outlook.

Thank you for your attention and cooperation.

Sincerely,

IVC IT Cybersecurity Department
