Dear Friend of the Portsmouth Historical Society,
As the year draws to a close, we are reflecting with gratitude on all we have accomplished together. Thanks to supporters like you, the Portsmouth Historical Society continues to preserve, protect, and share the stories that define our community.
The PHS Board and I hope you will join us for our Annual Meeting and Reception on Thursday, December 11th at 6:00 p.m. at the PHS Museum. In the meantime, we’d like to share some of this year’s accomplishments—made possible, in part, by your generosity.
This year, the Portsmouth Historical Society has:
-
Installed a state-of-the-art passenger lift to make the Museum more accessible to all visitors—funded by member donations and multiple grants.
-
Collaborated with the RI250 Commission on programs and events for next summer’s Semi-quincentennial.
-
Welcomed busloads of local AP History students and elementary school students, inspiring a new generation of history lovers.
-
Researched and produced three major historical markers for Glen Farm, Glen Manor House, and Leonard Brown House, now entering installation phase.
-
Hosted an engaging lecture and historic event series for all members and the public to join us.
-
This month, we will launch a revitalized Membership Program, titled “Play Your Part in Preserving Portsmouth History.”
These initiatives reflect our ongoing commitment to stewardship, education,
and community engagement. But none of this work can continue without your support.
This Giving Season, please play your part in preserving our unique and revolutionary Portsmouth history.
The Portsmouth Historical Society relies on donations, memberships, and grants to care for our buildings and grounds, protect our archives, expand and curate our collection, and create vibrant educational programs. Your tax-deductible gift—at any level—truly makes a difference.
You may donate here, or join/renew your membership here.
Thank you for being part of our mission. We look forward to welcoming you to the meaningful, family-friendly, and educational programs we have planned for 2026!
With sincere gratitude,
Craig L. Clark
