Men’s Health Month: Protect Your Power. Protect Your Brain | |
June is Men’s Health Month—a time to check in, speak up, and prioritize what often gets pushed aside: your health.
As neurosurgeons, we know that the brain doesn’t just power your body—it holds your memories, controls your movements, manages your emotions, and ultimately determines your quality of life. And yet, too many men—especially Black men—ignore warning signs, delay care, and face devastating consequences from treatable or preventable brain conditions.
This month, we want to sound the alarm and offer solutions. We invite you to join the conversation.

Celebrating Fathers
This Father's Day, we want to celebrate the powerful men who’ve shaped our lives and careers. Whether through wisdom, sacrifice, strength, or support, our fathers—and father figures—have left a legacy that continues to guide us.

We invite you to reflect and share:
How has your father (or a paternal figure) influenced your journey in life, medicine, or neurosurgery?

| | | Honoring Juneteenth: Freedom, Healing & Black Brilliance | | | |
Juneteenth is a powerful reminder that freedom delayed is not freedom denied. And as we celebrate the resilience and brilliance of our ancestors, we also recognize that the fight for true freedom continues—through health equity, representation, and community care.
At the American Society of Black Neurosurgeons, we believe that freedom includes the right to live well, to heal fully, and to thrive without fear or bias in every healthcare space. Our mission is not just about advancing neurosurgery—it’s about protecting lives, creating legacy, and restoring what was once withheld.
This Juneteenth, we invite you to reflect, recharge, and recommit to a vision of liberation that includes the mind, body, and spirit.
Because healing is revolutionary—and you are part of that revolution.
With gratitude and solidarity,
The ASBN Team
