Saint Patrick Catholic School, a ministry of Saint Patrick Parish, guides students in the pursuit of academic growth while inspiring joyful lives filled with love, service, and respect as disciples of Christ. | |
Dear Parishioners, School Parents, Faculty and Staff,
We are thankful to Barbara Bolaños for her commitment to Saint Patrick Catholic School for the 2023-2024 school year. Barbara's leadership ensures that our school remains vibrant and continues to offer a quality, faith-filled education during the search for our next principal. We are also thankful to Kate Chambers and her steadfast support of the students, faculty and staff, and community.
We are pleased to announce that we have begun the process to recruit and welcome a new principal to our school for the 2024-2025 school year! As we shared last year, undertaking the search for a new principal is a time when we see the work of God in our midst. Rather than embarking on a routine hiring process, we have the opportunity to discern the Holy Spirit's call and see the fruits of the Spirit's work when we welcome a new principal.
The principal search process is guided by the Archdiocesan Catholic Schools Office and is best described as a discernment process that seeks to call a new leader to serve as principal. As you know, a Catholic school principal is one who serves in a multifaceted role as a spiritual and inspirational leader, an academic and educational leader, an administrator, and a steward of the school's resources. It takes a special person to serve as a principal in this way. And it takes prayer and reflection to discern who is truly called to serve in that role here at Saint Patrick.
The Principal Search Committee, guided by Assistant Superintendent Pam Schwartz, is chaired by Jaime Singer, and the members from the school and parish community are Betsy Boileau, Laura Dougherty, Allison Drago, Kelly Goodsell, Brian Kranick, and Greg Unruh.
The committee has updated the position announcement, which will remain open until the position is filled.
The committee asks for your prayers as we move forward in this process. We pray that God will call just the right person as our next principal and that they will enthusiastically respond to serve in our community! Please pray daily for this and include a request for the intercession of our patron Saint Patrick, and that of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton, patron of Catholic education!
Jaime Singer, School Commission Chair

Dear Friends,
Thank you for your generous support of Annual Fund 24. It warms our hearts to receive sweet hand-written notes, included in pledge remittance envelopes, thanking us, like this one from Molly Lane, whose husband, Bob, recently passed away. The Lane family has been a strong and consistent supporter of Catholic Education at Saint Patrick Catholic School for over a quarter of a century. The Lanes children and many grandchildren are proud Shamrock alums!
Our goal is $250,000 and 100% participation by October 31. We have raised $137,650, with 49.49% of families participating.
The Annual Fund Participation Contest continues. The first class to reach 100% participation wins a pizza party. Which class will celebrate 100% participation with a pizza party? You can check the chart below for current standings and click on it for better readability. Mrs. Nagel's class is now in the lead with 73.9% participation, with Mrs. Coovert's 3rd-grade class following close behind at 72.22%, and Mrs. Richard's Kindergarten class is still in the race at 68.4%.
Please consider a monthly recurring donation of $25, which becomes $300 after one year—all gifts are needed, regardless of the size, or become a Sustainers' Club member by allowing your recurring donation to convert automatically towards the following year's fund by leaving the end date empty.
If you would like to learn more, you can watch our Annual Fund 24 appeal video.
With love,

Annual Fund Letter Writing
It is a long-standing tradition for every student to write a letter, card, or drawing to be sent to a Grandparent or Loved One each year. Teachers use this opportunity to develop age-appropriate communication and community-building skills. Each Thanks-For-Giving letter includes an invitation to support the Annual Fund.
Complete the letter writing form to help with the salutation and mailing address.

Matching Gifts
Thank you, UBS, for your matching gift!
Does your company match? You can double or triple your Annual Fund 24 gift through employer matching programs.
Matching gifts are a type of philanthropy in which companies financially match contributions their employees make to nonprofit organizations like Saint Patrick Catholic School.
Companies of all sizes match their employees' contributions to nonprofits because it's an easy way to support good work in their communities, matching donations 1:1, and some match at a 3:1 ratio.

Pushpay — New Parish Online Giving Platform
Thank you for your consistent giving to our parish. We are grateful for your continued generosity and are excited to announce a new way to give. We value our parish community and want to ensure everyone knows about our new giving platform.
We are moving away from Our Sunday Visitor (OSV) Online Giving and EFT services. We have chosen to contract with Pushpay. We strive to be good stewards of your financial gifts and believe the significantly lower processing fees offered through Pushpay will allow your gift of treasure to support our parishes' mission further. As always, security is a top priority.
We aim to complete this transition process to Pushpay by November 1, so we need your help moving your current OSV Online Giving and EFT gifts.
Online Giving
If you currently donate online (via OSV), please click on the INSTRUCTIONS button below to set up your recurring gift through Pushpay and cancel your donation through OSV.
EFT
If you currently donate through EFT (donations processed via the Parish Office at Saint Patrick Parish), please follow the instructions below to set up your recurring gift through Pushpay. Then, email Michelle Carpenter to stop your EFT donations.
Envelopes
If you currently donate using envelopes at Mass, please consider donating online and setting up an account in Pushpay by clicking the PUSHPAY button below.

Student Spotlight #1
Congratulations to the class of 2024, Shamrocks Luca C., Gunnar H., Chris C., Cody C., Will G., and Gunner's dad, Alex, the head coach.
As members of the 8th-grade team of the Bellarmine Preparatory School Lions Youth Football Club of Tacoma, they are going to the championship game next week—a special shout out to Chris C. on the fumble recovery during the last game.
Some of these boys are dual sport athletes; check out the following article.

Student Spotlight #2
Shout out to Brody K. ‘26, Davis K. ’24,
Luca C. '24, Cody C. '24, and Carter K. '24, Shamrock middle school students, playing on the Hilltop Heritage Varsity Baseball team. We commend the player's hard work balancing athletics and academics.
The team is undefeated, except for one game against their biggest rival, Mason Middle School, and they are playing in the district semi-finals on October 27 at 3:30 pm at Hunt Middle School Baseball Field off Mildred and South 8th Street. If they win, district finals will be on October 31 at the same time and place.
Did you know that per WIAA rule 18.6.5.B, in a school district with multiple middle schools, a full-time student in a private school who qualifies under 18.6.2 shall be able to participate at the public school that is nearest that student's current private school provided they reside in that school district and Saint Patrick Catholic School Athletics doesn't offer that sport.
We love celebrating our community members, parents, staff, volunteers, students, and alumni! Who should we celebrate? Email us and give us the scoop.

- Toilet paper
- Tarps
- Paper cups
- Caution tape
- Work gloves
- Flat Sheets
- Blankets
Student Emergency Preparedness Kits
If you still need to bring in your student's emergency kit, please do so as soon as possible. By working together, we can ensure that every member of our school is well-prepared for unexpected situations.
View the list of recommended items. Kits can be sent in with your students and given to the classroom teacher.

Read the latest guidance on COVID-19. Help prevent the spread of the virus to others in your home, our school, and our community by using the calculator to help determine quarantine requirements.
