Haraz Coffee House (89 Hudson Street)
The Mystery Book Club is heading off-site this month, meeting at Haraz Coffee House at 89 Hudson Street to discuss Ashley Elston's Anatomy of an Alibi.
A case of mistaken identity, a murdered husband, and two women who each hold half of a plan that has gone catastrophically wrong. When Aubrey agrees to swap places with Camille for twelve hours so both can dig up the truth about Camille's secretive lawyer husband, neither of them expects to wake up needing an alibi. Sharp, propulsive, and full of twists, this is exactly the kind of book that makes for a great book club conversation.
Print copies are available at the Grand Street Branch, second floor, and the eBook and eAudio editions are available through the Libby app.
Registration is required.

Honey
by Imani Thompson
Yrsa is bored, brilliant, and increasingly convinced that the world would be measurably improved by the removal of certain men from it.
Imani Thompson's wickedly funny debut follows a PhD student whose accidental witness to a very satisfying death awakens something she didn't know she was missing, and sends her down a path that is equal parts darkly comic, razor sharp, and genuinely propulsive.
Thompson writes with the kind of audacious confidence that makes you laugh out loud one moment and look over your shoulder the next.
A bold, adrenaline-fueled debut for readers who like their feminist fiction with a body count and absolutely no apologies.

I Could Give You the Moon
by Ann Liang
Chanel has spent her whole life being exactly who everyone needs her to be, and it has worked beautifully, until she meets Ares, who is completely unimpressed.
Ann Liang weaves a shared vision of the future, a missing brother, and a crumbling family secret into a romance that is as much about self-discovery as it is about falling in love. When two people who are each hiding something decide to use each other, the last thing either of them expects is to be truly seen.
Sharp, emotionally layered, and genuinely swoony, this one lingers long after the last page.

You Can Be a Good Friend (No Matter What)
by Taraji P. Henson
Lil TJ shows up to her first day of school exactly as herself, and that turns out to be a little more complicated than she expected...
Taraji P. Henson's warm and encouraging debut picture book follows a quirky, creative girl who faces teasing and self-doubt before finding her footing in the best possible way. With a little wisdom from Grandma Patsy and a lot of heart, TJ discovers that the very things that make her different are the things that make her a wonderful friend.
A perfect back-to-school read for little ones navigating new classrooms, new faces, and the universal worry of not quite fitting in.
