New Patent Announcement
The Office of Technology Development was recently notified that the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office has issued a patent to Florida Atlantic University for Systems and Methods for Detecting Disease Using Mobile Device. The technology is a video processing method that synthesizes images into a single output metric. Several image features are utilized to determine clarity and detail of the selected images and enable point-of-care diagnosis in the field for infectious diseases such as Zika. The FAU inventors named on the patent are Waseem Asghar, Ph.D., associate professor, College of Engineering and Computer Science, and his former graduate students Benjamin Coleman and Chad Coarsey.
