Florida Atlantic Awarded $4M in Federal Funding


FAU has secured federal funding to support three transformative programs that advance national priorities in defense readiness, semiconductor workforce development and neurological disease research.

Tiny Worms Used to Combat Chemo Side Effects


Chemotherapy is a lifesaving treatment for millions, but it can often come with severe long-term side effects like pain, weakness, numbness and even seizures.


FAU researchers are using tiny worms in their studies to model these neurological damages, providing important insights and identifying ways to protect patients' nervous systems while receiving life saving treatment.

FAU Study Finds

Privacy Risks for Teens


A new national study by FAU and the University of Wisconsin, Eau Claire, finds a surge in teen “sexting,” which frequently exposes adolescents to sextortion, coercion and privacy violations.


The consequences can be serious. Nearly half of teens (47%) who sent a sext reported their images were shared without permission, and about 50% experienced sextortion.

Researchers Connect on Mental Health


The Office of Research Development recently hosted a Research Connections event focused on mental health research, bringing faculty together to spark interdisciplinary partnerships and cross-college collaboration. The program featured an informational presentation from the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute, which funds comparative clinical effectiveness research to help patients and providers make informed decisions and improve healthcare outcomes. Ayse Torres, Ph.D., FAU's College of Engineering and Computer Science, and Beth Pratt, Ph.D., Christine E. Lynn College of Nursing, led a panel discussion followed by break-out groups.

New NSF Update

 

NSF has issued Supplement 2 to PAPPG 24-1 in alignment with the agency’s Gold Standard Science implementation plan.


First, changes have been made to the Public Access Repository and the mechanisms of Research.gov Project Reports.


Second, there have been three policy revisions affecting public access to research products, dissemination of research results and the Data Management and Sharing Plan. Researchers are urged to review these revisions in the NSF Policy Notice issued Jan. 22.

Updated Disclosures


The Office of Technology Development has updated its Invention Disclosure and Works Disclosure forms. For faculty, staff and students who want to disclose a new innovation to the university - you may view the new forms here.
