What’s this? Solutions: The Newsletter is your weekly Russell Sage College student newsletter. You’ll receive it every Sunday night this academic year.
Have something to share? Send it to newsletter@sage.edu.
We admit it, it's a long scroll — there’s a lot of good stuff to squeeze in. If Gmail shows a “message clipped” notice, click “View Entire Message” at the bottom to see it all.
Just so you know: If you unsubscribe from Solutions, you’ll miss all the messages the college sends through Constant Contact, which could include important info about graduation, academic deadlines, or what Chompers is up to. So even if you don’t read every week, please let it land in your inbox anyway and just delete (although Chompers gets a little sad when people delete without reading.)

Strong Through Every Mile Couch-to-5K-Program:
Learn More at September 4 Info Session
Strong Through Every Mile (STEM), a nonprofit organization that empowers survivors of interpersonal violence and abuse and DV through the sport of running, will once again offer its free couch-to-5K program to students and employees at Russell Sage. Runners of all genders and abilities are welcome.
Participants receive:
- The 10-week couch-to-5K training, which will be held three late afternoons a week on the Albany and Troy campuses beginning September 8 and culminating in a 5K in November. Trained volunteer coaches will encourage runners through the program, which gradually moves participants from walking to running at their own pace. More details about training times and days will be provided at the info session. You do not need to be available all three days a week to participate. (New this year: For those who take classes online and live outside of the region, STEM can support your training virtually, though we are unable to provide running shoes to our remote runners.)
- Free running shoes for first-time participants with a personalized shopping experience at Fleet Feet sports after three weeks of program participation.
- Physical therapy advice on stretching and injury prevention.
- Free entry for the goal 5K.
- A STEM t-shirt and finishers medal.
An info session will be held Thursday, September 4, at 7 p.m. via Zoom (be sure to click this link and register so you can receive the Zoom info). If you can't make the Zoom session but would like more information, please reach out to Jenn Gish at gishj@sage.edu.
This program is sponsored by Thrive@Russell Sage, the Denise Taber Finard '80 Women's Institute, and the Title IX Office.

Contribute to OT Research on Migraines in College Students
Occupational therapy graduate student Ashlyn Hatzis is conducting research to explore how migraines affect the occupational engagement of college-aged individuals and invites graduate and undergraduate students to participate.
Participation involves completing this anonymous online survey, which should take approximately 10-15 minutes.
There are no known risks associated with participating in this research. While there may be no direct benefit to you personally, the information you provide may help OT practitioners better understand and support individuals experiencing migraines. Participation in this study is entirely voluntary, and all responses will remain confidential. You may choose to withdraw at any time without penalty.
If you have questions, please email hatzia@sage.edu. Thank you for considering participation in this important study.
