Hello Scripps students! 

This is the bi-weekly internship newsletter for the spring 2019 semester. The internship newsletter offers a variety of the latest internships categorized based on skill sets and major-related criteria.

The following opportunities are just some of many that are available for students in the Scripps College of Communication. We pull from employers, Handshake, LinkedIn and University postings.

Career and Internship Fair and Pre-Conference
Saturday, Feb. 9 | 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Join the Career and Leadership Development Center (CLDC) in a series of workshops to prepare you for the Career and Internship Fair! Start the morning off with  FREE professional headshots  and then work your way through a  series of workshops on topics from researching employers to following up after the fair . Everything is FREE - professional headshots, seven workshops, a mock career fair and pizza!

New  Communication Internship  placements at the Center for Research on Health in Latin America in Biological Research and Pontifical Catholic University of Ecuador in Quito

The internship will focus   on creating projects around the scientific contributions that the partnership has advanced within Ecuador and beyond.

Information Session: Thursday, February 14 at 5 p.m. in Schoonover 450. Open to all students. Spanish language is not a requirement.

The Tools of Modern Interactive Design

Rescheduled for February 8 and 9
8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Schoonover 380

You do NOT want to miss this opportunity to learn some of the hottest tools for interactive design: Figma, Flexbox, CSS Grid and CSS-in-JS. Chris' workshop will provide you with plenty of resources for next steps, but there's room for only 30 attendees!

OHIO-in-LA Program

The OHIO-in-LA Program is an opportunity to "learn, intern, and experience" the media and creative industries in Los Angeles. More than 200 OHIO students have completed the program as it celebrates its 5th anniversary this year!

Deadline  for application to the summer program (May 29 - Aug. 10) is  February 15 ;
the fall program (Aug. 25 - Dec. 14) deadline is  March 1.

Student Expo
Thursday, April 11 | 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. | Convocation Center

Who can participate?   Participation is open to all undergraduate, graduate and medical students, as well as postdoctoral fellows, on the Athens and regional campuses.

What can be presented?   Posters, exhibits, performances, film screenings and other presentation formats are welcome.

Are students eligible for awards?   Awards will be given for the best presentations in each category: $150 (1st prize) and $75 (2nd prize). Categories are limited to no more than 12 presentations and assigned by discipline.

The Don Perris Endowed Scholarship

$3,000 to be awarded for the internship and $1,000 follow-up scholarship to be used for your summer or fall internship experience.

Eligible: Undergraduate rising juniors, juniors, seniors and graduating seniors eligible to apply from all Scripps schools. Internship does not have to be secured to apply.
 
All applications must be dropped off at the Information Desk in Schoonover Center.
