Mark Miller Subaru recently announced their 2021 Subaru Love Promise Partners and we are so excited to announce that Fit To Recover was named Mark Miller Subaru's Loves to Care Partner! We are so excited to continue our partnership with Mark Miller Subaru and look forward to helping people in recovery.
What is the Subaru Love Promise?
Subaru and their retailers believe in making the world a better place and the Subaru Love Promise is their vision of respecting all people. The Subaru Love Promise is their commitment to show love and respect to their customers and to work to make a positive impact in the world. For more information about the Subaru Love Promise, visit Mark Miller Subaru's website.
For our first Loves to Care Act of Kindness, Fit To Recover teamed up with Mark Miller Subaru to help deliver books and hand sanitizer to students at Riley Elementary, which is a Title 1 school located next door to Fit To Recover. Riley Elementary students are going back to in-person learning and we want to help keep them safe from COVID-19. To read more about this Act of Kindness, please visit Mark Miller Subaru's website.
We are still collecting kids face masks and hand sanitzer for students and teachers at Riley Elementary, so if you'd like to contribute, please have these items delivered to Fit To Recover (789 West 1390 South SLC UT 84104). You can also bring in your donations to Fit To Recover anytime until the end of the month. We have a donation box set up in the Main Lobby.

Wellness Challenge Update
|
|
Our 6-week Wellness Challenge started on January 4th and runs until Feb 15th and consists of completing 27 workouts, 12 active rest days and 3 nutrition classes. The premise of this challenge is to lay a solid fitness and nutrition foundation for the year ahead that prioritizes health and sustainable practices. We wanted to do a challenge that was simple but effective in creating new healthy habits for the new year. Anyone who completes all 42 prompts in the 6 weeks will be entered to win either $200 cash or a $100 Smith's grocery gift card.
From a fitness point-of-view, it was really important to incorporate rest days and active recovery into this challenge because most people tend to struggle with rest days, yet it's one of the most important for overall health. Vicki, our Fitness Pillar Lead says, "I have been very excited about the amount of consistency and overall energy about the challenge. I’ve really appreciated that people are asking questions and wanting feedback and really trying to become more well rounded in their health."
The nutrition criteria for this challenge is to attend (virtually or in-person) a minimum of three out of the six weekly nutrition classes led by FTR dietitian, Corinna Coffin. In these classes, Corinna covers important topics including: nutrition basics, balanced plate, mind & body, intuitive and mindful eating, meal planning 101, nutrition for performance, and supplement evaluation/considerations. With a better understanding in these areas, FTR members can feel confident in their knowledge and ability to formulate a nutrition strategy that fits their lifestyle goals and needs.
Good luck everyone and keep up the great work!

Last month, FTR partnered with Soap To Hope - a local nonprofit here in Salt Lake City whose goal is to build awareness, offer resources, and advocate for women, men, and teenagers who have been sexually exploited - to deliver warm clothes, beanies, blankets, hand warmers and gloves, and snacks to our less fortunate community members. We had a total of 26 volunteers, many from Wasatch Crest Recovery, help distribute clothing and snacks to homeless individuals living in North Salt Lake. Thank you to everyone who donated their time and energy to this event.
We have two upcoming Service projects!
