Help shape the next Ventura Police Strategic Plan

The Ventura Police Department is developing its next Strategic Plan and wants your input. The Community Questionnaire, open through October 27, 2025, takes less than five minutes and is available in English and Spanish.


Your feedback will help guide priorities, programs, and services across neighborhoods, schools, parks, businesses, and roadways. By sharing your perspective, you’ll play a direct role in shaping how we address community safety and build trust for the future.

The presentation highlighted recent City achievements, future initiatives, and shared project updates.

New fall hours for Ventura's Permit Center

The City of Ventura’s Permit Center (Public Counter room 117) at City Hall will shift to new fall hours beginning Monday, September 22: 


Hours of Operation 

Monday – Thursday 

  • 8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.: Walk-ins accepted
  • 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.: Appointment only 
  • Closed Fridays 


Community members are encouraged to schedule appointments online.

EVENTS & PROGRAMS

September 26-28: ArtWalk Ventura

Celebrate arts and culture as ArtWalk Ventura returns to Downtown and our Westside on Saturday, September 27, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Sunday, September 28, from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. This event brings together more than 200 participating artists, dozens of local venues, and an exciting lineup of performances by local musicians, poets, dancers, and filmmakers. 


To further highlight and celebrate the local creative spirit, the City is hosting a Mural Rededication at Westpark Community Center on Friday, September 26 at 5:30 p.m., to celebrate the restoration of Ventura’s oldest public art mural, Let It Be Known, by local artist MB Hanrahan.

September 20: Coastal Cleanup Day

Mark your calendars for this year's Coastal Cleanup Day, Saturday, September 20, 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Every third Saturday of September, the community comes together to clean our beaches and inland waterways in an effort to protect marine resources and promote sustainability in Ventura.


Californians continue to show they care deeply about the environment by supporting the cleanup year after year. Over 1.6 million volunteers have removed over 26 million pounds of trash over the past three decades.

General Plan final public meetings

After more than five years of planning and community input, the updated General Plan is entering its final stage. Don’t miss your chance to be part of the process with the last two opportunities for public input before the plan is adopted.

October 1: Biketober

Biketober is a fun, free, and friendly biking challenge for you and your family members. Bike beginners and regular riders alike can take part and you can ride anywhere, any time in October.

Everyone that rides a bike in October will earn points, which enters them into the prize drawings. Plus, the points you earn will go towards your workplace total and help you to climb up the leaderboards as a team!


Get the Love to Ride app and spread the word!

  • Improve infrastructure by rating your local streets
  • The interactive map shows how safe and comfortable people feel when riding their bikes on the streets in their community.
  • Automatically log all your rides


October 2: Tenant and Property Owner collaborative workshops

On October 2, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. the Community Development team will host a workshop with the Apartment Association of Greater Los Angeles (AAGLA) at City Hall's Community Meeting Room.


The meeting will continue supporting our residents with housing resources and information.

October 4: Love Ventura

Volunteer with Love Ventura, a local non-profit and beneficiary of our Special Event Grant Program, as they host their 4th Annual Citywide Serve Day on Saturday, October 4 with a rally at Plaza Park starting at 8:00 a.m.


From beautification and clean-up efforts in various neighborhoods, to improvements at the Cornucopia Community Gardens and graffiti abatement at parking structures, you're sure to find a project that interests you!
