FEBRUARY 2026 • VOLUME 9, ISSUE 2

2026 Healthy Heart Guide from Pillar Health & Kenosha Community Health Center

February is American Heart Month, a reminder to focus on heart health and prevention.

In Wisconsin, heart disease remains the leading cause of death, accounting for nearly 1 in 4 deaths statewide. More than 40% of Wisconsin adults have high cholesterol, and uncontrolled high blood pressure continues to be a major risk factor for heart attacks and strokes.

We are committed to improving access to heart care, education, and preventive services for families across Southeast Wisconsin, because early prevention and quality care can save lives.

Protect Your Family’s Smiles

February is National Children’s Dental Health Month, highlighting the importance of early oral health care.

In Wisconsin, nearly 60% of third graders have experienced tooth decay, and many children still have untreated cavities, despite tooth decay being largely preventable.

We support families across Southeast Wisconsin by promoting preventive dental care that helps children build healthy habits and confident smiles for life.

Provider Spotlight: Zach Gianakos

Pillar Health is proud to welcome Zach Gianakos, Behavioral Health and Resource Specialist, now accepting new patients at our Kenosha clinics.

Zach provides psychosocial support to patients of all ages, helping individuals and families navigate behavioral health services and community resources with care and coordination.

Pillar in the Community

Even during the deep freeze of January, our PillarKids Pediatric Team travels to care for children in Racine!

Over 3 chilly January days, PillarKids Pediatric Team from Pillar Health completed 55 lead screenings at Acelero Learning Early Head Start and Head Start sites in Racine. Lead exposure is dangerous—especially for children under 6—so timely screening is essential for healthy development.

Pillar Health was proud to be part of Healthy Heart Day at the Racine Family YMCA.

Pillar Health was proud to be part of Healthy Heart Day at the Racine Family YMCA, held during their monthly Savvy Senior Day and in partnership with the “Know Your Numbers” event. Our own Dr. Sanborn, cardiologist with Pillar Health, shared valuable insights on heart health, helping participants better understand their numbers and learn simple ways to keep their hearts healthy.

Kenosha Area Business Alliance Ovation Awards

Kenosha County is home to an incredible community of business leaders, innovators, and changemakers, and last night’s Ovation Awards, presented by the Kenosha Area Business Alliance, were a powerful reminder of that.

We’re proud to work alongside organizations and individuals who believe in building a healthier, more connected community, both in business and beyond. Congratulations to all of this year’s Ovation Award recipients!

January 23rd Blood Drive with Versiti Blood Center of Wisconsin

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who braved the cold to support our January 23 blood drive with Versiti Blood Center of Wisconsin. Your willingness to step out in winter weather and give speaks volumes. We know it wasn’t easy, but your single donation has the power to save a life. Thank you for stepping up, showing up, and making a real impact in our community.
