Friends,
It’s been a busy fall. Too busy. Schedules have been rough. Day to day, I’m juggling the calendar and the clock. My knitting time has gone bonkers.
Still, I carry around a drawstring pouch with a Sophie Scarf in progress.
Sophie Scarf is all garter stitch with an I-cord edging. It’s easy to remember. There's shaping every 8 rows that keeps me interested.
I knit one of these in blue for a friend this spring.
Then I cast on this longer one (twice around the neck) in off white. Summer became fall and I’m still knitting but I’m on the decreasing now.
My plan is to wear this Sophie Scarf with a green blazer or a red plaid shirt. It will be an accent and add some warmth. Go look at the Ravelry pattern page for some styling ideas.
That knitting bag came from an Etsy seller several years ago. It has a drawstring and smushes up in my backpack. The Etsy shop is closed or I would order another one, just like it.
The yarn is Twisp, a wool free blend that comes in 50 gram skeins.
I use an Addi Rocket Squared 16” circular needle for flat knitting because the needle winds up with the knitting and doesn't poke out of the bag.
Enough of my knitting quirks. Time to knit!
Best regards,
Wanda
PS I know we all love to knit with multicolors, tonals, dyed special wonders, but, really, I'm enjoying the sedateness of this off white. There's no punch. No gleam. No glitz. Just satisfying stitches flowing from one hand to another.
PPS We sure could use your orders! I'd give the small-business-in-a-rural-county speech here if I could, but you've heard that a thousand times. If you need some yarn or supplies, please give us your business before the holiday season gets crazy.
