Beverly Leckie Umbrella Ministries
Recently Umbrella Ministries held their annual Journey of the Heart Conference. Moms from all over the country attended, moms who have suffered the loss a child or in some cases, children. You would think this might be a sad occasion with the theme of loss, however, I found it to be inspiring and hope filled. Every detail was thought out with love and understanding as each leader had also experienced the unimaginable loss of a child. We were encouraged to remember and honor our kids, not forget and move on, but learn how to allow God to help us continue up the mountain one step at a time. Speakers and workshops offered helpful ways of living the life God intended us to live in spite of our loss, keeping our child’s memory alive by reaching out in their name. As I left, my heart felt a little lighter knowing I am not alone in this journey, God has provided sisters that know my pain and together we help each other to hope again.
