Bottom Line Up Front:
Retrofitting toy weapons into usable firearms is not new, but TRAC Analyst Kelsey Tamplin looks into an instructional video on how to shoot live ammo with a modified Nerf toy gun. The popular toys are known for shooting spongy projectiles, but a right-wing Telegram channel that caters to weapons created by 3D printers, makes a few simple changes to fire what appears to be a small caliber round.
Created in 2018, this channel has few postings but 2,785 subscribers is a clear indication that the channel is used more for direct messaging over circulation of content. TRAC also notes the post on Telegram mentions Virginia Attorney General Mark Herring, a reference to the Commonwealth's Assault Weapons legislation, widely opposed by right-wing extremist groups.
