SEPTEMBER 2022 | NEWSLETTER
”I never thought in my life I'd have to wake up to the sound of sirens, hear rockets rattle in the sky and loud explosions shaking the house, but it happened.

Now each morning I say, ‘Thank you God for waking me up!’ You appreciate every day and every moment!” Praise the Lord, as long as I live!"

Pastor Sasha, Living Pearl Children's Home co-founder
UKRAINE - September 11 marked the 200th day of war in Ukraine, and the UN confirmed over 14,000 casualties to date, though most likely that number is considerably higher.

We are so grateful that as the war has raged on, our Living Pearl children, their home and local church has remained safe. In the face of chaos, we attempt to maintain normalcy for our kids at Living Pearl.

But as the kids started a new school year earlier this month, their schedules are largely unknown from day to day - one day there were eight air raid sirens
and the kids did their schooling remotely. The next day, there was only one and they were able to return to school.
Thank you for loving these kids and please don’t give up praying for peace in Ukraine.
SEPTEMBER UPDATE: This month we have taken in 4 new children at Living Pearl: A 14 year old boy, a 12 year old boy and two 3 year old girls.

Living Pearl is run solely on the generosity and love of partners from around the world who give sacrificially to clothe, educate, feed and care for them.

Would you consider helping as a monthly sponsor of the home?

PHILIPPINES - Dire poverty and lack of access to basic social services are key contributing factors to all forms of human trafficking – sex trade, forced labor and domestic servitude.

In the Philippines, we work strategically with other agencies such as our local Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) to reduce vulnerabilities in extremely poor households.

Interventions to improve the health, nutrition and education of parents and children reduces the risk of trafficking in their lives.

Last month, our Advocacy Program Director, Marydith Desabelle took part in DSWD’s “Greater Impact: A Partnership Summit”. This is a significant partnership in our work to advocate and eliminate all forms of human trafficking.
