Data Talk with AARP California:
Why AANHPI Representation Matters
| | |
On May 9, 2025, Dr. Van Ta Park, CARE’s Multiple Principal Investigator, participated in a meaningful discussion alongside Alex Chew of Amplify AAPI and Daphne Kwok, a CARE Community Advisory Board Member and AARP’s Senior Vice President of AANHPI Outreach. The conversation centered around the vital role that AANHPI voices and perspectives play across various sectors.
Throughout the session, they delved into how AANHPI data is increasingly shaping key areas such as entertainment, medical research, marketing, and economic policy. They highlighted the growing recognition of AANHPI communities and the powerful impact of accurately represented data in driving more informed decisions. The discussion showed the importance of continuing to amplify AANHPI contributions to ensure that these communities are not only seen but also heard and understood.
Take Action: We invite you to join the conversation and support the need for increased representation of AANHPI communities in health research.
Share CARE with your network and get involved in efforts to ensure AANHPI perspectives are heard. Together, we can drive meaningful change.

Caregiver Spotlight: David's Story
They were doing, you know, the Chinese Domino's game Maja, not for money, but just for fun. And you could see her mind really slowing down. I could see it in just the way she was playing. And then after COVID, they stopped doing that, and so she wasn't even using her brain anymore. She was just sitting, just watching very passive things like that.
