Welcome to Our Table
You are invited to a special monthly conversation series with Eric Aft! Our CEO brings a special topic to each session, designed to bring our volunteers into a deeper understanding of our work. Thank you to those who came to our last meetingāJames Caldwell and Eric led a very engaging discussion around our partner agency network. This month, Eric and special guests Heather Martin, Interim Vice President of Providence Programs, and Nicole Caudill, Director of Community Meals, will continue with this theme by sharing more information about Second Harvestās Community Meals partnerships.
The next meeting will be held on March 18 from 4:00-5:00 p.m.! A virtual link will be sent out ahead of the meeting for those who need it, or you can join us in person at our headquarters in Winston-Salem (3330 Shorefair Dr). Light refreshments will be provided.
Eric is an expert in many areas, but our Volunteer Services Team is a better fit for your questions about how to volunteer with us.

Second Harvest Volunteer Spotlight: Marianne Greene
| | |
Since she first started volunteering at Second Harvestās Greensboro Nutrition Education & Distribution Center, Marianne Greene has quickly become a core part of our volunteer operations. Marianne found Second Harvest and signed up for her first shift two years ago, shortly after her fifth child left for college. Once she got involved, she realized she āneeded a new sense of purpose and a feeling of being usefulāwho knew?ā She also understood how food insecurity impacts so many communities and recognized that volunteering was one way she could help. As Marianne put it, āSecond Harvest treats everyone with dignity and respect, and offers the promise of hope in the form of assistance.ā
Marianneās favorite part of volunteering is the people she meets along the way. āThe community of volunteers and staff inspire me every day to step up and make a difference for the āgreater good!āā We deeply appreciate Marianneās growing leadership as she facilitates activities in Greensboro. Alongside Rick Adelman, one of our Lead Volunteers, she forms a dynamic duoātheir dedication truly is next level.
Fun Facts: When she isnāt volunteering, Marianne values family time, reading a good book, and traveling.
