What Afrofuturism Can Teach Us About Worldbuilding

"As we bear witness to the inhumanity of empire and grieve the reality of climate collapse, it is Black, Brown and Indigenous women and girls, and our trans, nonbinary, and two-spirit kin whose voices are guiding the path beyond violence."

These words from Alexis Flanagan were shared by Resonance Network in a new piece for Alliance Magazine, and these words are especially close to our hearts.

This year, Women's History Month arrives during a time of profound injustice and collective upheaval that—as we know—impacts those we celebrate. At the same time, glimmers of transformation are revealing themselves, many inspired by rich practices of future storytelling.

We extend Resonance Network's invitation to read more of Alexis’s reflections about worldbuilding, Afrofuturism, and radical imagination.

Happy International Women’s Day.
