Dear Families of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic School,
WellâŠWe did it! One week down! Only about 35 to go! đ I love the first week of school. So much excitement and anticipation. Uniforms look so nice and haircuts are looking sharp for the new year! If your house is like my house, the excitement can lead to a crash in the evenings. And I know the heat doesnât help either! I just want to thank all of you for all you do to make the first week run smoothly even when we have schedule changes, traffic construction, indoor dismissal, severe heat and more. Youâve stayed smiling and supportive and Iâm so grateful.
On Tuesday, we gathered together in the church to celebrate the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Father Jesse connected this yearâs theme of âLove One Anotherâ to the Cube of Love and demonstrated how Mary so beautifully lived a life of pure love. Along these same lines, as we continue to honor Mary, I wanted to share a quick video by Father David Michael Moses who spoke to our faculty and staff during our In-service Retreat. I hope the message is impactful for you as it was for me.
Fr. David Michael Moses - His Mom Can Handle It
Have a wonderful weekend!
Only by His Grace,
Veronica Tucker
Principal

WHAT SHOULD I DO IF MY CHILD WILL BE ABSENT?
Please email attendance@ap.school and copy your childâs teacher. You may let us know in advance if your child will be absent due to a scheduled appointment. Calls made by students are not acceptable. If a studentâs absence is not confirmed by 8:30 am, the school office attempts to contact the parent to verify the studentâs whereabouts.
WHAT SHOULD I DO IF I NEED TO PICK UP MY CHILD EARLY?
You may send in a note with your child or email the front office at attendance@ap.school with the time that you wish your child to be released. Your child should stop at the front desk upon arrival at school that day to receive an early release sticker. This important step will help reduce classroom interruptions and help you get to your scheduled appointment on time. The latest early release time in the afternoon is 3:00 p.m.âany later disrupts our regular dismissal procedures.
HOW LONG MAY I WALK MY CHILD TO CLASSROOMS?
All students should walk on their own to class starting Monday, August 21. Please encourage Early Childhood students to walk to class on their own (or with older siblings). Our teachers and staff will also assist them happily on their way.
MAY I BRING IN FORGOTTEN ITEMS?
ï»żMAY I BRING SPECIAL LUNCHES?
An important part of building responsibility in children is allowing them to experience logical and natural consequences. We ask that you not bring forgotten academic items to school (homework, projects, etc.). If an academic item is brought to a student, the student will have the same consequence as if submitting a late assignment. If a lunch is forgotten, a lunch will be provided and charged to the student. Fast food may be brought in as a treat for birthdays, but not on a regular basis or in place of forgotten lunches.
CAN MY STUDENT WEAR FREE DRESS ON THEIR BIRTHDAY?
YES! Students may wear FREE DRESS on their birthday or a day near their birthday (No Mass Days please). Students with summer birthdays may make arrangements with their teacher to designate a day to use their birthday pass. Birthday Free Dress must follow the guidelines of Free Dress Days in our Family Handbook.

Please make sure you report any absences to Attendance (attendance@ap.school). If your child has a reportable illness please let attendance or Nurse Pavlock know (i.e. COVID, Strep throat, Flu, Staph infection). REMINDER: A child must be fever free for 24 hours without fever reducing medication before they return to school.
If your child has a well check throughout the year and receives any vaccinations, please provide an official/stamped copy of their updated immunizations (a print out from the patient portal is not considered official per the state of Texas).
Please make sure we have the most current phone numbers for parents or emergency contacts in FACTS.

FROM MRS. MARTIN - JOIN CORE TEAM
I am very excited to be the new Middle School Religion Teacher and Religion Coordinator for St. Anthony of Padua Catholic School! I am so grateful to be a small seed that is part of your student's journey to the Kingdom. I'm excited to continue the wonderful path Mr. Cayanan set before me and to start new things at our school.
One new thing we will be adding this year is our very own "Core Team" for our school. When I was a teen on retreat, the Core Members who volunteered their time were such a witness to God's love and helped create an environment for me to encounter the Lord. Retreats are not possible without Core Members.
I am looking for a few faith-filled and passionate parents who are wanting to help put on retreats by leading small groups, helping pass out snacks and truly empowering students to grow in their relationship with God.
If you are interested in joining or want more information on Core Team, please email me at kmartin@ap.school and I will be happy to talk with you about it!
