Welcome to the
Month of Love ❤️
Beyond traditional V-Day dinners, February is a great time to bring our focus to self-care practices that optimize cardiovascular health. Our heart is one of the most vital muscles in the body, working continuously to support us in our daily adventures. Just like any meaningful relationship, our cardiovascular companion requires attention, nourishment, and care.
| |
One effective way to support heart health is through massage therapy. Regular massages help reduce stress, improve circulation, lower blood pressure and promote overall cardiovascular function. By incorporating massage into your routine, you are taking an active step toward a healthier heart and a more balanced lifestyle.

Celebrating 6 Years in Business 🎉

|
|
Founded in 2019, Island City Massage was a bold leap into the unknown—both personally and professionally. At 29, I had no idea what I was getting myself into but I figured, "How hard could it be?" (Spoiler: harder than I thought, but totally worth it). Our first studio found its home on the lively Wilton Drive in Wilton Manors, Florida, where we had the incredible honor of receiving a proclamation from the late Mayor Justin Flippen.
Though Justin’s passing was a tremendous loss, his passion for community and kindness continues to inspire me. Today, I strive to carry that same spirit forward—making a positive impact, one massage at a time.

Recent Business Statistics from Forbes, Bloomber & Others
Starting a new massage practice is an exciting and transformative step in a massage therapist’s career. The opportunity to be a self-employed wellness entrepreneur is one of the many reasons professionals like myself are drawn to this field—combining passion with the freedom to build something of our own.

|
These recent business statistics on success and failure were certainly eye-opening. According to reports from Forbes, Bloomberg, and other leading sources, 8 out of 10 entrepreneurs don’t make it past the first 18 months, and a staggering 96% of small businesses don’t reach the 10-year mark. Those odds might sound intimidating, but they also highlight the power of resilience, adaptability, and strong community support—qualities that are essential for success, especially in the massage and wellness industry.
That’s why I’m incredibly grateful for the support you’ve shown me over the years. Your continued business, referrals, and trust have allowed me to build something meaningful—creating a space where wellness, healing, and connection thrive. Thanks to you, Island City Massage isn’t just beating the odds, we’re setting new ones. Here’s to many more years of growth, gratitude, and helping each other feel our best.

Meet Screaming Shiba Studio

I recently had the pleasure of joining an incredible group of small businesses at a vendor market hosted by Makers & Mics at the Lenny Boy Brewery—a gathering that celebrated creativity, entrepreneurship and the LGBTQ community. Among the many talented vendors, one that immediately caught my eye was Screaming Shiba Studio.
The moment I saw their pins, my inner child practically did a happy dance. Their collection of animal-themed merchandise is nothing short of adorable, combining charm with exceptional craftsmanship.

Creators like Screaming Shiba Studio continue to push forward with courage, passion, and an unwavering commitment to their craft. From the Stage to the Massage Table
| | |
|
The talented touring cast of Hamilton recently visited Charlotte and with them came the electrifying energy that keeps audiences on their feet. But behind the curtain, the dancers—leaping, spinning, and storytelling through movement—were feeling the toll of relentless rehearsals and nightly performances. In search of relief, they found their way to our humble studio.
|
When they came in for the massage, it was clear: these weren’t just performers. They were athletes, pushing their bodies to the limit every night. Between rapid footwork, gravity-defying lifts, and the sheer endurance needed to make it through the show, their muscles were tight, their joints stiff, and their bodies craving recovery.
By the end of their session, they walked out feeling lighter, looser, and ready to take the stage again. But the benefits weren’t just physical. After weeks of constant performances, the massage session allowed them a moment to pause their thoughts and breathe—to let go of the stress, the adrenaline, and the mental strain of staying in perfect sync night after night.
