Dear St. Benedict’s Families,

We want to sincerely apologize for the rocky start to the school year. The past few weeks have not gone as they should have, and we take responsibility for that.

St. Benedict’s has been an incredible partner and has done everything they can to support us as we’ve worked through these challenges. We recognize that we have not consistently delivered on what we promised, and we are sorry that this has impacted your family’s experience.

This is not the Yay standard that families have come to expect from us, and it’s not the standard we expect from ourselves. We are determined to fix it. St. Benedict’s Episcopal School is a valuable partner to us, and we are committed to doing the work needed to make this partnership successful and earn back your confidence.

At all independent schools, tuition does not cover every operating expenses and this is certainly the case at St. B’s. As a result, the school depends on the generosity of our community to help close the gap between tuition and the actual cost of educating each student.

Early Dismissal Information for Friday, September 4

Our first early dismissal of the school year is Friday, September 4, 2026. Preschool dismisses at 11:00 A.M. and Kindergarten–8th Grade at 12:00 P.M. Extended Care will remain open until 4:00 P.M.

If your child is already registered for Friday Extended Care, no action is needed. If not, and your child will stay after dismissal, please email stingerssquad@stbs.org or preschool@stbs.org.

Yay Lunch will not be available, so students staying for Extended Care should bring lunch.

2026 Trustees’ Award Nominations Now Open

We’re now accepting nominations for the 2026 St. Benedict’s Trustees’ Award, honoring individuals, families, or community partners who have made an outstanding impact on our school community.

Nominations are due Monday, August 31, 2026, and will be announced at the 15th Annual Fun Run on Saturday, October 17, 2026.

Room to Wonder: Featured in Smyrna Vinings Lifestyle Magazine

We’re pleased to share St. Benedict’s recent feature in the August issue of Smyrna Vinings Lifestyle Magazine.

The story, “Room to Wonder,” highlights our Imagine Capital Campaign and the vision behind our campus expansion on Daniel Street.

The expansion will create even more opportunities for students to learn, explore, connect and grow, with plans for green space, outdoor gathering areas, an outdoor innovation lab and more.

St. B’s Robotics Is Growing: Join the Team!

St. B’s Robotics is expanding to two Middle School teams this year, creating more opportunities for students to build, code, problem-solve, collaborate and compete through FIRST LEGO League.

A few spots are still available! Practices are Mondays and Thursdays from 3:30–4:30 P.M., and no previous robotics experience is required. Students interested in LEGO, coding, engineering, science, creating or simply figuring out how things work are encouraged to join.

Save the Date for Our 15th Annual Fun Run: October 17, 2026

Join us Saturday, October 17, 2026, from 7:30 A.M. to 10:00 A.M. for one of St. B’s biggest community traditions! Hosted by the Parent Association, this family-friendly morning will feature a race, raffle, and snacks.

Lace up your running shoes, bring your Stinger pride, and make memories with our amazing community!

Children and Youth Choirs at St. Benedicts Episcopal Church

Children and youth in K-8th grades are invited to join the Choir at St. Benedict’s Episcopal Church! Rehearsals will begin on Wednesday, September 2, 2026 and pickup from Stinger Squad is available for STBS students.

Participants will learn singing, musical games, handbells, solfege, music reading, and will lead worship on select Sundays.

GOAL Informational Session

Join us October 2, 2026 at 9:30 A.M. to hear from President and CEO of Georgia GOAL, Ben Saylor, on how your Georgia taxes benefit our students.

Through the Georgia GOAL Scholarship Program, you can make a difference by contributing funds that directly support our ability to offer financial assistance, and you will receive a 100% Georgia income tax credit in exchange for your contribution!

Looking for a fun and educational activity to enjoy at home over Labor Day break? Revisit an episode of Acorns to Trees, our Spanish learning series for families led by St. B’s Spanish teacher Señora Marta.

Through music, interactive lessons and everyday topics, Acorns to Trees gives children and families an easy way to practice Spanish together outside the classroom.

Did you know as a St. Benedict's parent, you are automatically a PA member? The Sign Up HERE has a variety of ways to serve. We are so grateful for your willingness to share your time and gifts. Once you sign up, a committee chair for that area will contact you to discuss the specific volunteer opportunities and your available time commitment.
