A big thank you from the PTA to everyone who helped out with teacher appreciation last week. Just a reminder, it is still OK to appreciate Longfellow teachers and staff, this week and every week. Appreciate your teachers and staff early and often!

Incoming 9th Grade BHS Athletics Team Informational Meeting



Wednesday, May 22, 6:00PM in the Donahue Gymnasium

This event is for any incoming 9th grader who is registered to attend Berkeley High in the Fall. California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) bylaws state that any student who is not currently registered is not allowed to have pre-enrollment contact with Coaches and Athletics staff.  Thank you for your understanding.

BHS will host an informational meeting for incoming 9th graders and parent/guardians only. Come learn about participating in any of the 30 Varsity (JV and Freshmen) teams, how to get cleared for tryouts online over the summer so you are ready for Fall/Winter/Spring seasons, and summer conditioning opportunities. Many coaches will be in attendance to share info about their programs. After a brief presentation, you will be able to meet the coaches (kind of like a job fair). 

We will post the notes to our website following the presentation for those unable to attend.

Many teams also workout in the summer. Fall sports specifically do a lot of conditioning over the summer to get ready for tryouts. Fall teams will be there to share this information.

Reunión informativa del equipo atlético entrante de BHS de noveno grado

Miércoles 22 de mayo, 6:00 p.m. en el Gimnasio Donahue

Este evento es para cualquier estudiante entrante al noveno grado que esté registrado para asistir a Berkeley High en el otoño. Los estatutos de la Federación Interescolar de California (CIF) establecen que cualquier estudiante que no esté actualmente registrado no puede tener contacto previo a la inscripción con los entrenadores y el personal de atletismo. Gracias por su comprensión.

BHS organizará una reunión informativa solo para los estudiantes entrantes al noveno grado y sus padres/tutores. Venga y obtenga información sobre cómo participar en cualquiera de los 30 equipos universitarios (JV y Freshmen), cómo obtener autorización para las pruebas en línea durante el verano para estar listo para las temporadas de otoño/invierno/primavera y las oportunidades de acondicionamiento del verano. Muchos entrenadores asistirán para compartir información sobre sus programas. Después de una breve presentación, podrás conocer a los entrenadores (algo así como una feria de empleo).

Publicaremos las notas en nuestro sitio web después de la presentación para aquellos que no puedan asistir.

Muchos equipos también entrenan en verano. Los deportes de otoño específicamente hacen mucho acondicionamiento durante el verano para prepararse para las pruebas. Los equipos de otoño estarán allí para compartir esta información.

Hola familias de Longfellow,

Longfellow tendrá su segunda graduación annual Latinx el 31 de mayo de 2024. Raza Youth Concilio, facultad de la escuela y familias, han estado recaudando fondos para que este evento se realice. Raza Youth Concilio quisiera pedirle a la comunidad de Longfellow si nos podrian apoyar con este evento. Ocupamos voluntarios para para tres turnos diferentes: preparación para este evento (2:00 p. m. a 4:00 p. m.), calentar y servir comida (4:00 p. m. a 8:00 p. m.) y limpieza (7:00 p. m. a 9:00 p. m.). Tambien ocupamos apoyo en cocinar. Si desea ayudar para cocinar alimentos, contáctame por correo electrónico a rebecatorresavila@berkeley.net

Hello Longfellow families, 

Longfellow will be hosting its 2nd Annual Latinx Graduation on May 31, 2024. Raza Youth Concilio, along with staff & families, have been fundraising to make this event happen. Raza Youth Concilio would like to ask the Longfellow community for volunteers for this event and anyone interested in cooking. Volunteers are needed for three different shifts: set up for this event (2pm-4pm), heating up food/serving food (4pm-8pm) and cleaning up (7pm-9pm).  If you would like support in cooking food, please contact me by email at rebecatorresavila@berkeley.net
