The {First} 10 Commandments of Commercial Credit and Supply Chain Issues

After years of pursuing increased contractor bond rates, the law was finally changed in the recent legislative session. Signed into law by Washington Governor Jay Inslee, House Bill 1534 allows for increased contractor bond levels. While not entirely perfect, it brings us a long way from where we were. It has been a long road but we got it done!

In addition to our lobbyists and staff, we offer thanks to members Paulynne Vandersloot and Heidi Lindgren- Boyce, along with former member Shonne Tiede for helping us pursue the elected ones in Olympia. This effort began around 2014 and finally got done this year. This proves that Rome wasn't built in a day and patience can be rewarded!

"Credit is Risky Business"

Are you a business that pays B&O tax? If so, then this tax credit incentive program may be worth looking into as part of this month's #communityfocus . 

Who: In partnership with the DOR, Washington Trust for Historic Preservation and Washington Main Street.

What: The Main Street Tax Credit Incentive Program provides a Business & Occupation (B&O) or Public Utility tax (PUT) credit for private contributions given to eligible downtown organizations. 

When: Donations are open now until funds run out! You must make the payment prior to November 1st in full to the Main Street organization you select during the application process.

How: You can make a donation to one of WA State's 37 accredited Main Street Organizations (these are 501(c)(3) organizations with a mission to revitalize historic downtowns and encourage economic vitality in our communities. 

Example: If you make a $1,000 donation to a WA Main Street city, you'll receive a $750 credit on your B&O tax the following year.
