Then last night I tuned into the ESPN Sunday Night Baseball Game between the Chicago Cubs and St. Louis Cardinals and saw a completely sold-out Wrigley Field. I was pleased to see so many people are now out and about. For our local economy, this means good things as our theaters, restaurants, museums, hotels, retail stores, and more continue to open or welcome greater numbers of customers.
While TSA “screened nearly 2.1 million people on Sunday,” that is still close to “545,000 fewer people compared with 2019, as business and international travel are still depressed.” Our hopes are that even that will heal as more countries get people vaccinated. Until then, eat at a neighborhood restaurant (and tip generously!), support area venues and attend events, and shop locally with our terrific Delaware retailers. With time and expanded vaccine rollouts, international travel will soon return. So get those passports updated!
