Happy Bike to Work Day!

Despite some cloudy skies thousands of riders took to the streets this morning to celebrate our 16th annual Bike to Work Day presented by CAA Manitoba including Mayor Scott Gillingham and our fearless leader Dave Elmore (pictured above).

We hope you enjoyed your commute and stopped by some of the 75 pit stops located around the city.

There's still more to come today!

Tonight...

Check out IRide

IRide! Is a casual, relaxed pace group ride to bring together the many diverse faces of people who ride bikes. Meet tonight, Tuesday June 11th, at 6pm at The WRENCH kiosk at The Forks Market. The ride will depart at 6:30pm, and will be approx 18km and 1 1/2 hours, with a return to our starting point at The WRENCH Forks Kiosk. Helmets are recommended for all riders.

...and our Post Work Pit Stop!

We have partnered with Good Neighbour Brewing Company at 116 Sherbrooke Street to bring you our first ever Post-Work Pit Stop. Stop in on your way home for a snack and a radler. There will also be a mechanic on site, and an opportunity to win a Harvest Moon Festival prize pack and pick up your coupon for 50% off a pint this summer.

The Bike Week Bash is this Saturday, June 15th 1-3pm

Join us at the Legislative Grounds(SW Corner) for cycling games and activities with the Manitoba Cycling Association, free food for the first 100 guests from Fete Ice Cream and Hoagie Boyz, and live music featuring Wanda G, Boogey the Beat and Son Del Norte. One Trunk Theatre, Letter Peddler Press and Kurrent Motion will also be onsite with bike themed movement, theatre and art.

We will also have Bike Valet on site so your bike is secure and The WRENCH will be hanging out and providing FREE bike repairs.

The Bike Week Bash is preceded by Bike Week’s Discovery Ride: Kidical Mass, hosted by Bike Winnipeg. The ride will begin at Vimy Ridge Park (Preston and Canora in Wolseley) and end at the Bike Week Bash. The ride starts at 11:00am with bike decorating and will depart at 11:30am. The ride will be family and, of course, kid friendly and will move at whatever pace the kids set. There will be a short snack break halfway through the ride before ending at the Bike Week Bash.
