A toast to Catherine - celebrating 18 years of tranformational leadership

A heartfelt thanks to so many of you who were able to join us on March 19th to raise a toast to Catherine and for being part of the effort to recognize a special leader for the impact of her work. We thoroughly enjoyed gathering with all who were in attendance!

As Santa Clara County Supervisor and event emcee Joe Simitian said, the trees that Canopy planted and Catherine championed are part of the physical fabric of our communities that contribute in countless ways to the health and vibrancy of our neighborhoods.

Throughout her tenure, Catherine shone a light on the "green gap," the stark difference in the amount of trees and greenery from one area to the next. More and more research confirms what Catherine immediately recognized: that the trees in our cities and neighborhoods play a key role in community health, wellbeing, and resilience.

To continue this legacy she began, we invite you to support the newly launched Catherine Martineau Legacy Fund. To learn how your contribution will continue bridging the green gap locally and ensuring a thriving urban forest for all, please visit our website.

A message of support during the storms

Emergency responders survey storm damage on Circle Drive in East Palo Alto.

Emergency responders survey storm damage on Circle Drive in East Palo Alto.

Since the New Year, waves of wet, winter storms have impacted our environment in heartbreaking ways. Beloved trees have fallen or have been damaged by windy and wet conditions, and our communities have experienced fear, loss, and property damage due to the storms. Trees that bring us so many benefits, joy, and comfort can cause us to pause and look at the canopy with a new perspective as intense storms push the limits of drought-stressed trees.
