No prior experience is necessary, and you never need to bring a partner. This week, enjoy social dances in a variety of styles. including Folk. Waltz, Blues, Balboa, Contra, Swing, Tango and a Sarau de Samba—there's something for everyone to enjoy. Social dances include a beginner lesson, so you can easily try out a new dance style or refresh your skills if it's been a while since you last joined us on the floor. On Thursday nights dancers converge upon the Ballroom Back Room for the best in DJ’ed Blues dances in the Washington, D.C. area: a Blues Dance with Capital Blues! In honor of Valentines Day, this week's dance will start off with a special beginner-friendly lesson in Dips and the Illusion of Dips, taught by Dr. Jesse MB and Zach Williams, followed by a DJ'd dance!

Looking for a Valentine's Weekend activity? Enjoy an afternoon of dance that makes the perfect date! Waltz Time presents a waltz with live music by WALTZIFIERS with Bernard Solnik (piano, vocals), Dave Meyers (lead vocals, guitar), Tom Helf (drums), Jim Crenca (bass). The afternoon starts off with a lesson from 2:45pm - 3:30pm, followed by a dance to live music from 3:30pm - 6:00pm.

Join us for a Valentine's Weekend Sarau de Samba, which is an authentic samba de mesa or samba de roda (jam session). The event features a dynamic ensemble of musicians and dancers, showcasing everything from Golden Age samba classics and choro to modern pagode and high-energy carnival beats. We kick off with a beginner-friendly dance lesson, so everyone can join the fun—no partner nor experience required.
