At Habitat LA, advancing Black homeownership is more than a program, it’s a commitment to closing the racial homeownership gap and investing in generational wealth, stability and opportunity for Black families across greater Los Angeles. Through our Advancing Black Homeownership initiative, we’re removing barriers, creating pathways and putting keys into the hands of families who have long been locked out of equitable access to homeownership.

Because a home is more than four walls. It’s a foundation for stronger schools, safer neighborhoods, financial resilience and long-term legacy. It’s children growing up with stability. It’s parents building equity. It’s futures being rewritten.

Service in Action

NBA Cares Day of Service fuels wildfire recovery.

Service took center court in Los Angeles as Habitat LA stepped onto the floor for the 18th annual NBA Cares All-Star Day of Service. More than 300 volunteers packed the convention center, rolling up their sleeves to take action for families still rebuilding after the devastating 2025 wildfires.

In partnership with the LA Clippers, NBCUniversal, NBA Cares and dedicated community leaders, volunteers didn’t just show up—they built up. Together, they constructed wall frames that will become permanent homes through Habitat LA’s ReBUILD LA initiative. These structures will house families impacted by the Eaton and Palisades fires, transforming one powerful day of service into lasting stability, security and hope.

When a community comes together with purpose, recovery becomes reality.

Erin Grove: Almost Home

36 townhomes. 81% complete. One powerful milestone.

Big things are happening at Erin Grove! 🎉 Our largest development to date is now 81% complete, with just a few final steps standing between construction and keys in hand. Nestled in the Washington neighborhood of Long Beach, this vibrant community will feature 36 beautiful new townhomes for low- and moderate-income first-time homeowners—just steps from local parks and Washington Middle School.

Inside, finishes are coming together across all four buildings, with flooring, interior paint, and final carpentry wrapping up. Outside, crews are preparing for landscaping as we head toward completion this spring. Solar installation and final inspections are on deck, bringing us closer to welcoming our newest homebuyers home.

Unity on the Jobsite

Faith. Action. Impact.

Build for Unity brought heart, hope and hard hats to Long Beach for its third annual build—and what an incredible two days it was. During World Interfaith Harmony Week, more than 50 faith community volunteers came together with a shared goal of raising $25,000 to build homes, communities and hope.

People of all beliefs and backgrounds stood side by side on the jobsite, proving that when we focus on what unites us, real impact happens. Together, volunteers helped advance safe, stable, affordable housing for low-income families across Los Angeles.

From prayer circles to power tools, the energy was powerful and the purpose was clear: unity isn’t just an idea, it’s something we build.
