Counting on Success: From Uno to 20!

Pictured: Lyn, the Site Coordinator at Lamar Elementary School in Greenville

A first grader recently joined CIS, and Lyn began with a "get to know you" game. During the session, she noticed the student struggled with counting and that she had little experience playing games. At their next meeting, the teacher provided a worksheet to help strengthen the student’s number skills. Lyn and the child worked through it together, followed by an activity using Uno cards, where the student clipped the correct number of clothespins to match each card. By the end of the worksheet, she was counting to 20—something she hadn’t been able to do before!
