New reading challenges for middle and high school students  

  

Calling all readers in grades six through twelve. Carlsbad City Library is launching two exciting reading challenges this November: 

 


 

Register in Beanstack, then visit any Carlsbad City Library location to claim your registration reward—a free book and a pin board to help start your reading journey. For every ten books you read, you’ll earn a book-themed pin of your choice. Complete the challenge and celebrate your achievement with a special graduation lei, proudly displaying all the pins you've collected.

Join us in the Ruby G. Schulman Auditorium for a special author event with critically acclaimed chef and cookbook author Pyet DeSpain. Pyet will share insights from her upcoming book, "Rooted in Fire: A Celebration of Native American and Mexican Cooking", which debuts on Nov. 18. Pyet was most recently featured on the Food Network’s hit series "Tournament of Champions". 



Free tickets will be distributed beginning at 9 a.m. Doors will open at 9:30 a.m.

Upcoming closures


Veterans Day Closure

All Carlsbad City Library locations will be closed on Tuesday, Nov. 11, in observance of Veterans Day.


Libraries will reopen on Wednesday, Nov. 12, at 9 a.m.


Thanksgiving Closure

All Carlsbad City Library locations will close early at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 26 in observance of Thanksgiving.


All Carlsbad City Library locations will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 27 and Friday, Nov. 28 in observance of Thanksgiving.


Libraries will reopen on Saturday, Nov. 29 at 9 a.m.
