Housing Bounce

The Market is Picking Up

• Today, interest rates fell below 6% for the first time since September.
• Rates are anticipated to slowly decline more in the coming months.
• Housing was incredibly sluggish in the 4th quarter of 2022.
• Prices have been declining very gradually.

• The supply of available homes is currently low. Why? Homeowners with a low mortgage rate do not want to make a move!
• 89% of Californians with a mortgage have a rate 5% or below.
• 71% have a rate 4% or below.
• 29% have a rate 3% or below.

• Once mortgage rates approach or fall below 5.5%, more people will be willing to enter the market, increasing demand in spring and summer of 2023.
• Because supply will remain low, prices will stabilize or perhaps creep back up slowly.
