This is a poster made by the Guerrilla Girls originally in 1989. By 2017 these statistics had marginally changed to 6% of the artists in Modern Art sections being women and 60% of the nudes being female.

A recent analysis (2022) of major U.S. art museums by researchers at Williams College found that  13% of artists featured in those collections were women. There is some improvement. On a positive note, presently 55% of working artists (performance and visual) are women, per data from the career platform Zippia.

Here at the Angela King Gallery, we are trying to bridge that gap by focusing on adding women and people of color to our gallery of artists. We currently show 14 women artists and 18 male artists. I have made a concerted effort to equalize the roster.

We have a way to go, but we will continue to work to ensure the artists of the Angela King Gallery fairly represent the multicultural landscape of US.

Thank you for your support of this woman owned and run business.
