What's New in Real Estate - March 2020
Greetings!
I've rewritten this message several times in light of the continuously evolving global events and am sure that when I push send, it will immediately feel dated. I hope you all are staying safe and healthy and if there is anything I can do to help you, please reach out. Despite the tumult of the financial markets, our real estate market remains strong and I am continuing to work with buyers and sellers every day and anticipate a strong spring market despite the crisis at hand.

We are fortunate to have evolved as an industry to have great technology available to continue doing our jobs even while we are social distancing! I have for years used e-signing software to move my transactions forward smoothly and this software is even more valuable now! I am also offering virtual showings via FaceTime for clients who aren't comfortable venturing out right now!

In these challenging times, I try to remember all that I have to be grateful for. In February we at Howard Hanna celebrated our 2019 successes for an afternoon at the annual awards event and I am thankful, once again, for all of your support of my real estate business as I was recognized for the 6th year in a row as Sewickley's #1 Realtor.  My favorite award was the Green Penguin award, a cute little pin, that I received for providing quality service to my clients (based on your reviews). Thank you to all of you!

I also celebrated my 21st anniversary in real estate on Valentine's Day and continue to love what I do! There are a lot of exciting real estate opportunities coming up this spring, so if you're ready for a change, I'd be thrilled to connect with you and see what we can do to make that a reality for you! Despite the crisis at hand, we are working to provide CDC-appropriate ways to allow our clients to move forward with their real estate needs.
Sending you good wishes and great health,
Getting it Sold!

We hear there is low inventory and many buyers looking for homes. Shouldn’t that work to our advantage as potential home sellers?
It’s true — we are in a very strong seller’s market. If you are thinking of selling, there is no better time than now. But even in a hot market, it is important to remember ....
Representing You Near and Far!

We are planning to buy a second home in another location.  How can we find a great agent to work with there?
You might be surprised to learn that I can help you with this!  No, I am not licensed in other states, but I can help you find a great agent wherever you are thinking of buying (or selling) a home...
Sometimes Empty is Best!

My mother recently passed leaving me and my brother a well-maintained but not updated house built in 1960. It’s full of furniture that is clean but bulky and out of style and almond-colored appliances that work fine but are 20-30 years old and don’t match. We plan to sell the house. My brother thinks the house will sell better if it has some furniture and appliances in it; I think it would sell better with empty rooms (it has beautiful hardwood and tile floors that have been covered with carpet since the day they were built) and the distracting appliances removed. What would you advise?
First, you absolutely must empty the home – these days young buyers want Pottery Barn, not grandma and grandpa’s house. Buyers also do not respond...
Selling with Pets

What advice do you have for pet owners hoping to sell their homes?
I am a pet lover. In fact, there are two canine members of my family. 60% of Americans own a pet, and 40% are dog owners. As a pet owner...
