Carnevali Foundation Update –
Expanding Education in Tigray, Ethiopia
The Carnevali Foundation is excited to share that we are extending the grade levels at our adopted school in Tigray, Ethiopia. The Primary School was originally built in 2020 under the direction of the Butterfly Foundation and its Director, Claudio Manieri. Sadly, significant disruption to life in Tigray led to the partial destruction of the building, and work had to be suspended.
We extend heartfelt thanks to Claudio and his team for their unwavering dedication to this remote and underserved community. Thanks to their efforts, the primary school is once again active, with 391 students enrolled and 14 dedicated teachers—9 women and 5 men—working in two shifts to serve the growing student body.
The Jwazien Wereda Office of Education has assured us that there is now no risk of damage or looting, as the school is in a location under full control of the regional government. To ensure safety, the government has also employed two permanent guards to provide 24/7 security.
