Results of the Congregational Meeting and Home Place Vote
The results of the resolution on Home Place (read the resolution here) were 31 in favor and 3 opposed, so the motion passed. This obviously triggers mixed feelings for many of us and Council greatly appreciates all of the discussion that led up to this decision. For those of you that wrote extra notes on your ballots, these will be prayerfully considered as we move forward.

REMINDER
Due to the Covid-19 virus (Coronavirus), in-person worship services are canceled until further notice. The reopening task force continues to plan for in-person worship as soon as possible. Read more here...

Please check your e-mails regularly for updated information.

The Word This Sunday
September 6, 2020 - 14th Sunday after Pentecost
Conflict is a part of relationships and life in community. Jesus’ words in today's gospel are often used in situations having to do with church discipline. The prophet Ezekiel tells of warning the wicked to turn from their ways, and Paul reminds us that love is the fulfilling of the law. We gather in the name of Christ, assured that he is present among us with gifts of peace and reconciliation.

The prophet’s responsibility to warn the people

I desire the path of your commandments. (Ps. 119:35)

Live honorably as in the day

Reconciliation in the community of faith
The ELCA has developed a resource website to provide mental health information for its members and congregations, as well as their partner organizations and friends of any background.

Whether you are in the process of becoming aware of and making choices toward a healthy and fulfilling life, or whether you know someone who is struggling with mental health concerns, please use this website to help you find available resources.

God's Work, Our Hands Sunday - September 13 from 1 - 4 pm
Join us on God's Work, Our Hands Sunday on September 13, 2020 from 1 pm to 4 pm for an exterior beautification project at Peace Lutheran Church, located at 1548 Jackson Avenue in Memphis! We will observe social distancing.  Please feel free to bring drinks, snacks, and a folding chair for break time.

Here are some of the projects we hope to complete during our work day:
  • Work on the flower beds
  • Rake leaves and clean out the beds by the church
  • Trim bushes by front sign
  • Plant flowers around front sign, in planters, and around the area by the front steps, (approximately 6 concrete planters - 4 larger ones and 2 smaller ones)
  • Remove weeds growing in the asphalt parking lot
  • Power wash to remove moss from north side of church
  • Figure out ideas help the "door to nowhere" be less obtrusive

Our garden is doing so well this year thanks to all the "garden angels!" We have lots of produce that needs to be delivered to the Collierville Food Pantry each week during our growing season. Please choose a week you can help and sign up on SignupGenius. Contact Carol Rife with questions at 901-752-3957.
