Friend of ASPNC,

The colors of fall have popped and winter planning is already underway for the 2019-20 winter season. Cannon U is set for Sat. November 16th and ASPNC's All Volunteer Gathering will follow on Sun. November 17th. We hope all our volunteers will attend this important and required training weekend for ASPNC as we plan for our largest season of the year...we need all hands on deck!

In the meantime, we have several weeks left to continue enjoying fall programs! Keep reading below to learn what ASPNC has been up to and mark your calendars for important dates coming up.

ASPNC Weekend Adventure

This past weekend, ASPNC hosted two long-time participants with visual impairments. They booked a weekend getaway with ASPNC and wanted to experience various outdoor adventures. Together, with some amazing volunteers, we delivered a memorable weekend that included hiking at Fox Hill Park, biking on the Lamoille Valley Rail Trail, and some more hiking at PRKR Mtn Trails. While tallying nearly 20 miles of human-powered recreation over the course of the weekend, we replenished those calories burned with some great meals at Franconia Coffee House, Hungry Bear Cafe, The Beal House, Rosa Flamingo's, and Crumb Bar! Oh, and some great cookies at The Gale River Motel!

In all, it was an amazing weekend spent with great people. Thank you to everyone who made this experience possible.

TETRASKI OPPORTUNITY

We have an exciting opportunity that we wanted to share with our volunteer community first. The folks at TRAILS, out of the University of Utah--where the TetraSki was developed--have offered to bring the TetraSki back to ASPNC and Cannon Mountain! They would like to hire a full-time TetraSki instructor, who will work about 40 hours per week for nearly 4 months. This person would be responsible for conducting TetraSki sessions (including filling the calendar with sessions and getting any volunteer support needed) at Cannon, as well as at surrounding mountains in the Northeast. While the TetraSki will be at Cannon for the majority of the season, this person will also be traveling around to other programs with the ski - an awesome opportunity for our program to take the lead on and continue developing relationships with other programs.

Candidate must be an expert skier but does not need prior experience with the TetraSki. Must be willing and able to travel throughout the winter. Training opportunities, specifically for the TetraSki, will be available. Compensation will be above average for a ski instructor and will be determined based on interview process with Tetradapt.

Upcoming opportunities to get involved

Volunteers Needed!!

Littleton High School Life Skills Adaptive Sports Program : Every other Monday from 2 - 3:30pm, we will be doing a different recreational activity with a group of 7-10 high school students. We could use volunteers to help with one or more of these activities. Please contact the office for more details if you are interested!

Save the Dates and Register to Help!

Saturday, Oct. 26th - Franconia Notch Half Marathon

We will need about 30 volunteers to assist with the Franconia Notch Half Marathon. All proceeds from this event go to ASPNC. This race is put on by a former ASPNC Junior Volunteer, Grace Cisler. This year, they expect nearly 300 racers competing! Sign up below and help ASPNC raise money to support our mission!

Saturday, Nov. 16th - Cannon University

For all new alpine volunteers or any alpine volunteer who is seeking the season pass level commitment, this training is a requirement. Unlike past years, we will be required to attend on our specified day, so please plan ahead. Following Cannon U, we will have alpine training.

Sunday, Nov. 17th - All Volunteer Gathering @ Copper Cannon Camp

All ASPNC volunteers, regardless of which programs you volunteer for, are required to attend this all day training. We would love to hear from you on what topics you would like us to cover either on this day or in our pre season training
