From My Point of View...

Earth Day, which is April 22, provides an opportunity to recognize the role we, as landscapers, play in protecting and preserving the environment.

Have you ever thought about how the work you do on a daily basis impacts our world in a positive way?

Water Conservation

We utilize various techniques to conserve water, such as installing efficient irrigation systems, using drought-tolerant plants, and incorporating mulch to retain moisture in the soil.

Plant Selection

We select plants that are native or well-adapted to the local climate and soil conditions. These plants support local ecosystems by providing habitat and food for native wildlife.

Soil Health Management

We focus on improving soil health through practices such as composting and soil testing. Healthy soil supports plant growth, enhances water retention, and promotes nutrient cycling, leading to thriving landscapes with minimal environmental impact.

Green Waste Management

We responsibly manage green waste generated from pruning, mowing, and landscaping activities. We ensure proper disposal through recycling or mulching facilities, diverting waste from landfills and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

Be proud of the work you do and the contributions you make.

Enjoy the view!

Here are some tips to make the work day go smoother!

  • Have a good attitude - this just makes everyone's day go better!
  • Bring or wear layers of clothing to adjust throughout the day as needed.

Flip's Safety Tips!

Little Tikes 12" mower circa 1987!

Fire extinguishers are located in all trucks and trailers as well as throughout the shop. Each year they are examined and any faulty or expired extinguishers are replaced. It is important to familiarize yourself with the fire extinguisher locations and know how to properly use them

To use a fire extinguisher, remember PASS:

P - PULL THE PIN at the top of the extinguisher. The pin releases a locking mechanism and will allow you to discharge the extinguisher.

A - AIM at the base of the fire and not at the flames. You must extinguish the fuel to the fire.

S - SQUEEZE the lever. This will release the extinguishing agent in the extinguisher. If the handle is released, the discharge will stop.

S - SWEEP from side to side. Using a sweeping motion, move the fire extinguisher back and forth until the fire is completely out.
