🚨Betterment Confirms Customer Contact Data Exposed🚨

Betterment, online investment and financial services company, has released its post‑incident report on the January 9, 2026 security breach, confirming that an unauthorized individual accessed certain internal systems through social engineering.

While customer accounts and passwords were not compromised, some customer contact information was exposed.

What Happened

On January 9, an attacker used identity impersonation to access third‑party platforms Betterment relies on for marketing and operations.

This access allowed the attacker to send a fraudulent crypto‑related message that appeared to come from Betterment.

The message was not legitimate and did not compromise customer accounts.

What Data Was Exposed

Betterment’s investigation found that the attacker accessed customer contact information, including:

  • Names
  • Email addresses

In some cases, the attacker also accessed:

  • Physical addresses
  • Phone numbers
  • Birthdates

Betterment states that no customer accounts, passwords, or login credentials were accessed.

What You Should Do

  • Ignore any crypto‑related messages claiming to be from Betterment.
  • Stay alert for phishing attempts using your contact information.
  • Remember: Betterment will never ask for your password by email, text, or phone.

Bring Your Facebook Profile to Life

Static profile photos are starting to feel outdated. Facebook now lets you animate your profile picture using AI, giving your identity a subtle but eye-catching upgrade.

What if your profile photo could move, react, and feel alive without you recording a video?

Here's a Cool Tip: Animate Your Facebook Profile Image.

Using Meta AI, you can transform a single image into a short animated loop.

No video editing.

No special tools.

Just one tap and AI does the rest.

This is more than a cosmetic tweak.

It signals a shift toward AI-enhanced identity across social platforms.

Feature Explanation

Animated profile pictures use AI to simulate motion from a still image.

The system analyzes facial features, lighting, and depth, then generates subtle movement such as:

  • Head tilts.
  • Eye movement.
  • Background motion effects.
  • Light parallax.

The result is a short looping animation that looks natural rather than gimmicky.

Why it matters:

  • Profiles stand out in feeds and comments.
  • Adds personality without needing video.
  • Low effort compared to traditional motion graphics.

What You’ll Gain

  • A more engaging and modern profile presence.
  • Increased visibility in comments and posts.
  • No design or video editing skills required.
  • A fast, one-tap upgrade to your digital identity.

Step-by-Step Instructions

Here's how to do it.

iOS / Android (Facebook App)

  1. Open the Facebook app (iOS Android).
  2. Tap your profile picture.
  3. Select Edit Profile Picture.
  4. Choose a photo from your library.
  5. Tap Animate with AI.
  6. Preview the animation.
  7. Tap Save.

Example:

  • Upload a standard headshot.
  • Facebook adds subtle motion like blinking and a slight head tilt, turning a static image into a looping clip.

Pros and Cons

Pros:

  • Easy to use with no learning curve.
  • Makes profiles more visually dynamic.
  • AI-generated motion looks natural in most cases.
  • Great for personal branding and visibility.

Cons:

  • Limited control over animation style.
  • Not available to all users yet.
  • Some results may look slightly artificial.
  • Requires newer app versions.

Feature Access

  • Currently rolling out gradually
  • Available on mobile first
  • Powered by Meta AI
  • Expected to expand globally over time

If you do not see it yet, your app or region may not have access.

Score

Criterion | Score (0–10) | Justification
Value 8
Strong engagement boost with minimal effort.
Usability 9
Extremely simple workflow, nearly frictionless.
Wow Factor 8
Subtle but noticeable improvement over static photos.
Total: 25/30 | 🌟 Excellent
A smart, low-effort upgrade that enhances personal branding more effectively than static images.

Key Takeaways

Animated profile pictures bring motion and personality to your Facebook presence without requiring video creation skills.

The feature is simple to use and likely to become a standard expectation for social profiles.
