Your July Guide to Good Trouble | |
Good Trouble Doesn’t Take the Summer Off
They’d love for us to stay quiet, stay tired, and stay home while the Big Bogus Bill bulldozes through our rights and our neighbors get squeezed from every side. Too bad — they forgot who they’re dealing with.
This community doesn’t sit back. We pack classrooms with supplies when budgets fail our kids. We make signs and raise our voices when leaders forget who they work for. We march together because John Lewis taught us that sometimes the only way forward is through a little necessary trouble.
July is our chance to show what happens when ordinary people refuse to be steamrolled. We look out for each other. We fight smarter, stand taller, and stay louder than the nonsense thrown at us.
So if you’re angry, good, if you’re exhausted, we’ve got your back. If you’re ready to turn frustration into action, you’re right where you belong.
Let’s make this summer impossible to ignore — together.
In Solidarity,

This Month, Our Meeting is a March!
This month, instead of gathering at our usual spot, we’re taking our meeting to the streets! On Thursday, July 17th, join us for a Good Trouble March & Rally to honor John Lewis’s legacy and remind our community that standing up for what’s right is worth every step.
We’ll assemble at Friendship Baptist Church at 5:30 PM and step off at 6:00 PM, marching down Richland Avenue to the Center for African American History, Arts & Culture (CAAHAC). Once there, we’ll rally at Founders Park with speakers, including our keynote, Rep. Jermaine Johnson.
If you’d rather not march, head straight to Founders Park and welcome the marchers when they arrive. Parking is available on city streets, at CAAHAC, and in nearby church lots.
Bring a friend, bring your voice — and let’s make Good Trouble, together.

Honor Hamburg: Past, Present & Future
Hamburg-Carrsville invites everyone to Hamburg Commemoration Day on Saturday, July 12th, from 10 AM to 12 PM at the Alexander Pope, Jr. Center in the historic Hamburg-Carrsville African American District.
This year’s program features keynote speaker Dr. Bobby Donaldson, Associate Professor of History and Founding Director of the Center for Civil Rights History & Research at USC.
After the program, the Hamburg Museum will be open for tours — a chance to connect with this important local history and reflect on how we carry it forward.

Let’s stand together to honor the past, celebrate the present, and shape the future.
See you there!

Democrats Don’t Ban Books—We Donate Them
Republican budget cuts threaten the Aiken County Public Library’s “Let’s Talk About It” series. We’re stepping up to help.
The library needs donations of these unabridged classics in good condition:
- The Great Gatsby
- The Scarlet Letter
- All the King’s Men
Let’s keep Aiken reading.

Drop off books at ACDP HQ (410 Richland Ave W, Aiken) or mail to PO Box 2432, Aiken, SC 29802.
| | | Stay informed. Stay loud, and stir up some Good Trouble while there’s still time. | |
The Big Bogus Bill — Don’t Be Fooled
They’re calling it the “Big Beautiful Bill,” but let’s be real — it’s a Big Bogus Delay designed to hide the worst cuts until after the 2026 election. Medicaid, food aid, clean energy, student loans, rural hospitals — all on the chopping block once they’ve got your vote in their pocket.
This is no accident. It’s calculated. They’re hoping you won’t notice the damage coming down the line until it’s too late to fight back.
So stay alert. Talk about it. Share info with your friends and neighbors. We have to watch what’s delayed, not just what’s announced.

Fuel the Fight
Here’s the hard truth: we can’t fix what’s broken or face what’s coming if we’re running on fumes. The ACDP needs real resources to repair our building, power our community work, and help our candidates run to win.
If you believe in this work — organizing, protecting voters, standing up for our neighbors — chip in what you can. Every bit helps us keep pushing forward.

We’re in this together.
