Rev. Tim Hass. sermon is entitled “No Man (Or Woman) Left Behind” based on Exodus 12:33, 37-38 (NRSVA).

..."I am Jesus, the One you're hunting down. I want you to get up and enter the city. In the city you'll be told what to do next." His companions stood there dumbstruck - they could hear the sound, but couldn't see anyone - while Saul, picking himself up off the ground, found himself stone-blind. They had to take him by the hand and lead him into Damascus. He continued blind for three days. He ate nothing, drank nothing. There was a disciple in Damascus by the name of Ananias. The Master spoke to him in a vision: "Ananias." "Yes, Master?" he answered. "Get up and go over to Straight Avenue. Ask at the house of Judas for a man from Tarsus. His name is Saul. He is there praying. He has just had a dream in which he saw a man named Ananias enter the house and lay hands on him so he could see again."

Francis Thompson's poem The Hound of Heaven compares God's pursuit of us to that of a bloodhound after a hare. We run from him, chasing our own desires. But we soon find that the objects we pursue - wealth, fame, power, and pleasure - do not satisfy. It's only when God captures us in the embrace of his love that we realize he is the one we desired all along. We tend to chase shadows in pursuit of the true but hidden object of our longing - the very one who is pursuing us. Saul thought he was the hunter, when in reality he was the hunted. And when God caught him in his net, Saul found precisely what he'd been hunting for.

Tonight, our Bible Study Lesson is entitled Ananias & Saul. All are invited to attend in the Beachside Room from 5 pm – 6pm.

Blessings,

Dr. Kevin M. James, Sr.

Isaiah Bible Study by Leissa Spoelstra

Following God isn't about striving; it's about trusting.

As you study the chapters Isaiah wrote-from his challenging words to the nation of Israel to his prophecies of the Messiah to come-learn to rest in God's promises and grow in trust.

In this 7-session sturdy, Isaiah's words will reveal that you can trust God more than your own human effort or the counterfeits the world suggests. You won't be striving harder, but instead trusting more deeply the Faithful One who is so worthy of our utter dependence. In Him you'll find the comfort and peace you need to sustain you.

Beginning Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2025 6 pm Lakeside Room PCUMC.

The study guide is $22.00 and has online video access.

Please contact Jo Anne Wilson at ja.wilson8668@gmail.com or 386 439-8164 to register.
